Introduction

Wow, I can't believe I'm doing this. After I played Kirby: Squeak Squad, I thought Kirby games were awful. (I played it on a 100% complete file). But when I played Kirby Super Star Ultra it completely changed my point of view. It is a great 15 game remake of the 8 game SNES classic. But can it actually measure up to the hype it probably hasn't created?(haha) You're about to find out from an ex-Kirby Hater!

Graphics

Honestly, Nintedo DS graphics are terrible. In Kirby Super Star Ultra they're no different. Sure the gameplay graphics are fun and cartooy, but that doesn't cut. There is a difference though. The cut scenes have amazingly high quality graphics which rival even Super Smash Brothers Brawl. If the gameplay graphics annoy you the movie graphics make up for it.

Sound

The music is nice. It's very entertaining and playful. But it can also be intense (during boss battles). There are cute themes in cut scenes and Kirby voice is pretty cool. If you've heard the music before but have never played Kirby games before it is probably because themes like Vs. Marx and Revenge of Meta Knight were included in Super Smash Brothers Brawl!

Gameplay

The gameplay is awesome! There are many fun puzzles, bosses, and abilities. Copying foes is simple and fun, plus helpers make this game even more enjoyable. Using cutter's jump attack and sword's beam make it even more fun. There are really smooth controls, fun features like Copy Essences Deluxe (from Milky Way Wishes), and lots of playable characters (e.g. Waddle Doo, Meta Knight, Bonkers, and of course, Kirby). It's magnificent!

Lastability

Fifteen games may sound promising, but Kirby games are generally easy, and this is no exception. If you can't even beat Spring Breeze this game gets old, fast. Average players can beat it 100%, you don't have to be hard-core to do that. Plus Samurai Kirby, Megaton Punch, Card Swipe, Kirby on the Draw, and the other minigame are dull. Fortunatly, games like Dyna Blade, Meta Kightmare Ultra, Milky Way Wishes (my personal favourite), and The Great Cave Offensive have good replay value. Unfortunatly it is possible to beat this game in a day. But transformations like Suplex will keep you coming.

Overall

Overall this is a great game with fun bosses (Whispy Woods, Wham Bam Rock, Computer Virus) neat abilities (Yo-yo, Wheelie Rider, Sound) and lesser annoyances (Phan-Phan, sleep). But Kirby makes up for those with flight, swords, Dedede, and lava (plus more). If you like classics, puzzles, treasures, Platformers, sub-games, out of place rpg bosses (in The Great Cave Offensive and Milky Way Wishes) or a retarded possibility of Meta Knight blowing up the Halberd you should buy this game. Plus if you like bosses and want to fight them again you can replay the game. And the boss will usually appear again. That's all folks!

Final Score: 86%
