The best item you can craft are hats as they give you additional hearts of stamina which are essential for making it along the trail without passing out.
Regularly keep an eye on your equipment to see how close it is to breaking by entering your 'Clothing Equipment' menu.
In the trading mini-game whenever you enter a campground the trading timer will reset. This will also happen when you fast travel from the map so it is possible to jump around and trade at different camps multiple times in a row.
The trail between camps gets longer and longer as the game progresses so whenever possible try to carry at least one back-up food item or more if you have the space for when your stamina runs low.
Make sure you keep an eye on your hearts because if they turn orange or red instead of green it indicates that you are carrying too much stuff.
Always look to craft something whenever you are at a campsite even if you do not need anything as equipment is generally high value and will earn you good money if you sell it to other players.
Items that you encounter on the trail will sometimes have an outline to indicate their purpose. Blue outlines means the item is used in a crafting recipe that you know and red outlined items mean the item is part of your current quest. White outlined items mean that they are edible.
In the mini-game you will naturally earn more money as you learn to craft higher-value items so do not become too concerned if you are not winning the trading game by earning the most money.
In the trading mini-game place your items on the far-left side of the conveyor belt as this assigns them the highest purchase price possible and gives players more time to buy them.
In the trading mini-game if you accidentally place something on the conveyor belt you do not want to sell you can just drag it back into your rucksack and you will not have to pay it's cost, you will just take it back.
In the trading mini-game the trading timer will stop counting down when you are in a menu so take advantage of this and spend all the time you need crafting or equipping items before trading.
Whenever you find red outlined items that are part of your current quest they will automatically go to Koko the bird instead of into your bag.
If you have extra ingredients that cannot be applied to a craft project you can always sell them outright for a few more chits and to free up space in your bag.
The more times you craft an item the higher it's crafting level and durability will be.
On the trail there are usually food items like apples, berries, or raw meat. If an item is edible it will have a white outline around it.
