Try and complete the Daily Missions whenever possible so you earn extra merits or credits. This feature is accesssed at the main screen by going to the first icon.

At the bottom of the main screen there is a scanner icon which enables you to search nearby space a certain amount of times per day giving you the opportunity to yield faction mission transmissions or equipment.

You will need to keep replaying away missions until you have earned all the possible rare rewards to get 3 stars for it. To earn 3 stars in a space battle you must defeat the enemy ship a certain amount of times. If you earn enough total stars you will be able to unlock higher difficulty levels for the same episode.

Make sure you place your best crew members into the battle stations before you enter a space battle. To see a list of the selectable crew members and their abilities just tap the battle station. A good strategy when selecting crew members is to ensure you also have a mix of skills.

When you have exact duplicates of crew members you can fuse them together to create a more powerful character of the next higher rarity. Duplicate one-star characters are not worth hanging onto and should be dismissed to free up space on your roster as there is a limit to the amount of crew members you can have at any given time.

You can periodically recieve free crew members as a reward by logging into the game and playing daily. It is possible by looking at the calender that appears when you first log in each day to see what crew members will be available and what days they arrive.

The key to successfully progressing is to gather as many different crew members as possble as the missions you will encounter will require a mix of crew skills to complete.
