You will be able to get permanent score multiplier power-ups by buying costumes at the in-game shop where even the cheapest costumes will give you a small boost.

As you collect coins your sheid icon which is on the bottom left-hand side of the screen will fill up. Be liberal with your shield as the meter will not fill up again until it has been depleted.

Keep an eye out for 'No Sackboy' signs as you run through levels as these indicate areas that have a fatal trap that will end your run immediately unless you have activated your shield. Although these areas are dangerous they do yeild some great rewards.

Try to stay on the upper path whenever possible as they tend to have fewer traps and are seeded with more rewards.
