First you have to do mission and get gems and you have to upgrade your animal habibitat. It will give more coins.
Sometimes, you might have to complete a mission to be able to earn free gems. They're usually quite hard to finish, hence why they award you with free gems. But it's only 3-6 gems that they give you usually but if you're lucky, more! For more money, when you finish a family, try and upgrade the habitats, even though sometimes they might cost a lot. It'll be worth it when the time comes to collect from your animal habitat!
If you complete a mission about downloading another game, a new mission will appear, with a lot of gems, the missions are very easy
