My sims tv won't stop

I once finished a task that said "watch the news" and after I finished it the tv would not stop going! I can't turn it off!! And if I wanna change the size of the room it says that I can't do it bc of the tv! I can't save it in my inventory either. Help me!!!

That sounds like abug -try reloading your game from the most recent save.

Have another sim watch TV. It should turn off automatically!
