Why can't my Sim figure skate any more?

I'm working on a social task where I have to snowboard at a neighbor's snow park and I have to get all the skating medals to get the key to unlock the ski lift. I've got 2 medals to go but since the update my Sim can't skate, at either of my neighbors rinks or frozen pools. All I get when I tap on the rink or pool is the blue circle with the arrow and my Sim walks to that point. I've tapped on every square inch of the ice and walls and there is no pop up giving me the options to skate. I've put in a ticket to Firemonkeys but they just gave me the pat answer that they can't work on every bug and they'll contact me if they need more info, yada yada. Anyone else having this problem and is there a workaround? I'm not at the level where I can build my own snow park.

I have only 2 medals left too, have tried to figure Skate with several different approaches (like having all the Sims needs met, socializing in another town if I am using their ice rink, and trying different sims). None of this has worked so far. It's kind of frustrating after getting so close, and not only that, but I am unable to finish any other Social Goals. I hope someone comes up with a solution soon...
