I put down my baby and got it.

Try having your Sims use Items in your house. Found my 3rd artifact by having "traditional tea" with the teapot. Though, I believe others found theirs on other items.

I just used the toilet and I got my 3rd artifact

I found the third artifact by taking a quick rinse in the shower. Just try using all sorts of different Items

Got mine by drinking traditional tea!

I found mine by feeding my baby. I had like 9 hours left when I finally got the last artifact. Don't just keep planting peppers because it takes too long to actually find it planting peppers. Try just taking care of your Sims and doing things you normally do.. My friend also found the last artifact by sending a sim to work and my sister found hers by clicking the little shovel above her dog's head and it found the artifact.

make a list of the short actions--washing hands, using toilets, planting peppers, being nice, etc.--and have 10-12 sims in a room in a house. get them all to be rotating these actions, starting another when the previous one finishes. this works eventually. if not, move houses and gather a group of 10 sims, the max you can have in any one house. good luck!

To find you're artifact just do the following:
Bake cookies and them little buns things(how I found mine)
Read the big pulp book
Plant red peppers
Use the bathroom
Wash you're hands
Quick rinse
Quick dip
Turbo snack
Watch news
Rest eyes
Rest on the bed
Check email
Cuddle and feed baby

You SHOULD find you're artifact. I did ALL those things and found my artifact ina few mins.

To find granite or the third artefact you must either do an action, build something or any thing you do in Sims like having a shower. The possibilities are:
Have a shower
Go to the toilet
Wash hands
Watch news
Ponder, speculate, daydream
Read magazine
Read pulp novel
Check email
Dance
Make tea or coffee
Bake cookies or hot cross buns
Grow bell peppers
Eat turbo snack
Rest eyes
Drive
Kick over bin
Talking to each other
Cuddling a baby
Feeding a baby
Changing baby's diaper
Play chess at Park
Make a speech at the Park
Barbeque at the Park
Feed the ducks at the Park
Fishing at the Park
Playing with the boat at the Park
Send a sim to work

These are the actions you can do to find the granite. They are quick actions so it will be quite easy. I hope you will find the third artefact using this tip. P.S: not every action in Sims is in that list, just the very quick and well known one's. And everyone's actions to find the granite are all different so only one of these will hopefully work.

I had a traditional tea and it was there

I made an espresso for 20 secs (A coffee machine can be found in the 'Kitchen' section in the home store and aren't usually too expensive), and unmeaningly found Granite, the third artefact. My sim was just tired and had no time for sleep.
