For some reason my social button isn't working ya know the one thats shaped like the world next to the store button and all it's just grey

That will depend on what level you are on, or if you don't have any friends who play this game on Facebook or the Game Center then you will not be able to go to other Towns. If you do have friends on Facebook or the Game Center but you are not yet on level 9 then you will not be able too go to other towns.
