How do I use the fire hydrant. It's in inventory but won't stay where I try to place it.

Fire Hydrant is in inventory, click inventory then click on Hobby (the one with the Soccer Ball) and you should see the fire hydrant to place outside a home on the grass. If you are talking about the fire extinguisher that should be in your kitchen already.

The Hobby Items like the fire Hydrant and the Soccer Ball need an unusually large amount of space. They look like they would only need a two by two square space, but they actually need a three by three square space. Clear off that in your yard and try placing it again.
