If best friends is as high as the friendship levels go then why is the bar filling with pink?

Pink is when you engage your Sims into a romantic relationship which leads to getting engaged and married.

But what if I don't want them to be romantic or anything? I just want them to be plain best friends. How do I cancel out the pink in the Best Friends Bar?

First make your Sims mad at each other by filling up the Bar with red then refill it with green this may take a while because your sims have to apologize and become best friends again
I tried this it takes a long time but it works.
