Is your goal to read some literature about afterlife?
If so, you need to buy the bookshelf from the Homestore and place it in a sim's home. Click on the bookshelf and select the read literature option.

You can find bookshelves in the living room tab of the home store. I know, it seems like it takes forever to get past all the chairs and couches but they are there you just have to scroll for a long time.
