Did you mean "mom"? Either way, those labels are just indications of relationship Status. Put simply, it's really just telling you how well two particular Sims get on (or don't get on, in some cases) rather than their family connection etc.

I'm not aware of it changing any time soon. Not sure there's really any need for it to change, unless people don't know which of their sims had which children? lol
