Try turning the coffee maker so that it faces where the sim can use it,

Place the table (with the coffe maker on it) in front of sim and face it to them and make your coffe!

depending on which coffee machine you have, select the sell and move option, and rotate in different directions, try each direction. might just be placed where they can't reach (although it looks to you like they can reach it)
