They don't you do. Because they have no free will it's up to you to get them what you think they would want with the money they earn. If you have a story for them , who they are, what they do for employment, their Relationships etc. You get it to fit inwith that using your imagination you can make it as full and interesting as possible.

The money they get from work goes to the green money circle in your top left corner so you go to the home store and buy what ever you want your sim to have😉
