How do you play with the animals because I have the task and he said to play with one but I don't know how

If you have a cat or dog (or other animal that needs to be played with) the professer would say play with the animal. I had the same problem. I got the cats. I got a cat toy from the shelf and I placed it on the cat it didn't work. Then I found out that you need to let the animals outside and place the toy outside and then they play with the toys. I completed the task that time.
