I can’t figure out how to “create” gold spaces, since the knights do this. How to I make them or stratigize

I think the key to getting the white knights more active to move and leave gold squares behind is to eliminate all the silver barrier walls. If you can eliminate the silver barrier walls with at least 10 moves left you will have a Fighting Chance.
