I too have spent an excessive amount of money on megabucks. However, I do know a way to fix this issue. First, review what current projects you have currently invested in. Second, review the task and then also the trophy sections for your city. Third, Prioritize which of these objectives will provide you the greatest amount of resources for what you building priorities are. Fourth, invest in these task. Fifth, stop buying megabucks and using them for "quick" construction. Be patient and only buy one or two of any one material in order to complete a task. For the rest if you expand who you invite to be a neighbor then you will be fine.
