You con download other mobage games when prompted to, which will give free gold just for signing in. Then you can spend it on the card packs of your choice. I've done this at list five times and ended up with some nice cards.

Don't bother with referral codes. The card you get for doing those is a piece of junk unless you get 8 of the,m, and then it's still not too great. I would suggest doing the offers that they give you when you start up the game.
