Hey, I really wan't to know, how to get more lives in survival

When selecting a character, in the bottom left corner tap on upgrades, then buy the survival skill
Ok so you need to win like two games then you have 3 lives but in the first round you start out with 1 so there you have it
I am not sure, I have 7. I've unlocked a lot of characters, and gotten to C rank. That's probably how.
