to increase your silo/barn storage you will need to acquire the correct number of items required to do so. You can find out how many of each you need by opening up your barn/silo and tapping "increase storage", this will show you how many of each item you have and how many you need. Silo requires nails, screws and panels. Barn requires bolts, planks and tape.

You can sometimes find these items in the newspaper, you can win them in the global events, on the Wheel of Fortune too, or you can find a forum either on Facebook, here, supercell forum or iPad forum and trade for the items you need. I would advise you against using Diamonds to complete barn or silo upgrades. The amount they ask for is ridiculous.

In my opinion, the best way you can harvest lots of building materials quickly is by growing lots of wheat. It only takes two mins to grow and when you harvest it, it will gift you the occasional building material. I grow and harvest a LOT of wheat for this purpose alone.

Hope this helps :-)
