Electric eels: befriend or just dodge? Is there a way to defeat them, or do you have to avoid them entirely? Seems like every other creature can be converted to a friend one way or another, except the jellyfish, and the game tells you those are a lost cause from the start.

It's probably best to just avoid them. They move pretty slowly, so it's not hard to do. They don't seem to ever kill you but they do scatter any of your friends when you get zapped making you vulnerable.
