What is the best armor that a Mage can wear?

The best armor a mage can wear is the surpurb armor. The female is not allowed to wear shoulder armor though. These pieces of armoour can be obtained quicker by defeating various mission in the northern kingdom and defeating orcs in cold sands holds desserts. It will be to your benefit to defeat all human like creatures and steal from their chests and corpses in order to ffind better armor and enchantment runes.

Superb armor that they sell at Cold Sand Hold...you can live with that.

But the best superb armor I've used so far is elfweave. I found a superb elfweave coat in one of the chests in the Lair of the Fire Elemental King, and superb elfweave trousers in a chest at the bottom of one of the lakes in the Swamplands. In case you're wondering, Swamplands can be accessed by going through the Rock Tunnel in the Northern Kingdom. If you go to this area, though, note that enemies here are level 38-42 strong. Your mage needs to be at least level 33 and can summon a level 5 fire elemental and some high-level fire/stunning spells to survive.

If you don't want to go through the trouble, just upgrade your Air Armor skill to level 5 and that will add a significant bonus to your armor rating - 50% or something - for two minutes. That gets your rating to 170+, even with just superb armor from the vendor at Cold Sands Hold.

Now, as a bonus, if you're wondering what the best mage weapon is - say you're waiting for your spells to cool down and you feel the need to bash the enemy with at least a physical attack - the best staff is the Vampire staff. Go to the Old Tunnels beyond the Sewers of Callaheim and the Vamp is holed up in one of the side tunnels. Its attack rating is 52, speed is 1.3, and adds +3 to Intelligence. The Vamp doesn't always have that though, nor is it always in his chest. Take your chances.

The best armour for mages is the superb bloodsilk armour. You can get it from the orc captain and the other one in uthus fortress. After killing all of them, collect whatever armour you get and save the game. Load it again and then kill the two orcs again. Like this, you can obtain the full set.It can also be found in underwater chests but is very rare. But I'm not sure where to get the superb bloodsilk cap. Im a level 48 mage and have explored everything but still couldnt find the hat
