You have to upgrade the player cards in the Card Shop by using points that are earned through achievements in games. You get achievement points by making double/triple plays, pitching 3-ball strikeouts, hitting doubles/triples/HRs, etc.

No, that's called Upgrading your players.
The question (and I'm asking it as well) is referring to gaining XP during games. The HELP talks about this but I cannot seem to make it happen either.

It sucks, but to gain exp you have to play the player through the whole game. (and season) you can't auto play at all or you will gain nothing and even lose exp points. I had a great team and right before the playoffs I auto played and lost lots of exp. Without exp, when you try to level up, you fail

I auto played quite a few games and innings during my first complete season and I had plenty of players level up.

if you move a player from your roster it loses its experience. I sim most of the pitching innings and the cards I have had for a few seasons are all the way or mostly full on exp just from pitching the 1st inning and in playoff games. they have not lost any exp. another hint, click the ads once per inning and back out real quick and you sometimes get free points or inning jump cards...

Where can I see "experience" of a player?
