When you earn the indicated number of 'S' ranks the corresponding EX stage will become unlocked. EX stages feature rarer and stronger Pokemon to catch and have new rules. EX stages are accessed by tapping 'Extra' at the lower left side of the screen. Earning S-Ranks on the EX stages or SP stages will not count towards your overall total.

Unless you are a completist and want to spend real money you will find that it is almost impossible to capture ALL the Pokemon. Just focus on building up a roster of different types of Pokemon.

Always look to mega-evolve Pokemon in stages which have strong enemies as doing so can clear rows and columns. It is not worth mega-evolving in fights that require you to finish in 10 moves or less.

If your team is struggling you can always increase it's power by level-grinding against Normal types which you should be able to defeat easily as they will have very few elemental advantages.

To be effective against any enemies you encounter you need to keep training ALL your Pokemon so you raise their levels and make the whole team more powerful.

When you optimize your roster the selections the computer makes may not always be the best option. If you feel this is the case tap the optimize button at least twice so you cycle through your Pokemon and then choose the most balanced team possible.

Before you enter a battle take advantage of the 'Optimize' option which lets the game select the Pokemon from your roster that are best-suited for the upcoming battle.
