At the start of each mission you will have five hearts, once these have run out you will have the option of either waiting about half hour for each refil or using in-game fish currency to buy more.

As you progress through the game gadgets will eventually become unlocked which will give your ship an additional boost.

The first character you should think about upgrading is Chou-chou the repair alpaca as doing so means he will be able to fix your ship a lot quicker making it easier to replace him with one of the attack cats.

Assign Chou-chou the alpaca mechanic as often as possible to make sure that your ship has not sustained any damage and is capable of flying to the end of the mission.
