When you have earned enough coins you can go to the local shop where you will be able to upgrade a variety of things including weapons and speed. Be warned though, you will find some are expensive and you will be required to pay additional cash.
To begin with you can run through the game without any problems, the only thing is though is that you are stuck with a low-end slingshot. There will be a point where you will need to use any coins you may have earned to pay to speed up a weapon refill or cooldown meter or replace any hearts you may have lost along the way. The difficulty will eventually rise to the point where you will have to pay with real money to continue playing.
You can play this game two ways, either with the gyrocopic meter which scrolls over the screen depending on the way you are holding your device or alternately using the on-screen controls. The best way of the two is using the on-screen controls as it gives you better accuracy and allows you to get a bead on ducks by moving your thumb along.
Guide your on-screen cursor to aim at the target, then fire a shot from your weapon by tapping the top of the screen.
At the begining of the game you when you start of with just the slingshot you will find that you will have more success waiting and then picking off the slower ducks when they appear. Don't waste your time with the fast ducks that streak across the screen.
During the game there will be opportunities to earn coins through bonus objectives, these include a Granny round where you can earn 100 coins if you have collected a total of 1,000 coins during the game.
When you have shot a duck they will leave coins behind that will fall to the ground. These coins are then added to your account when you pick them up, if you do not pick them up quick enough though they will disappear.
When you reach the later stages of the game the ducks will begin to fight back, this will either be by throwing things from a distance which you will need to shoot or unleashing a melee attack on you if you are not quick enough taking them down and they get close to you. When you lose all three hearts in a stage you will have to retry.
The parachute will only keep you suspended in the air for so long but it is particularly effective at getting Hoppy Frog over large gaps and avoiding sharks.
You will begin with a slingshot but as the game progresses you will be able pick up weapons that have a more effective range, these will include a shotgun and a rail gun.
In-game coins cost $0.99 and up to buy and if you want to make real progress when the ducks become trickier you need to invest in better weapons at the start of the game.
When you begin each stage you will see the objectives that need to be completed. This includes collecting a certain amount of coins or shooting a minimum number of ducks. To unlock other stages you must earn at least one star, if you manage to get all three you will earn a bonus that adds to your cash total. If you complete a stage and come up short you can always go back and try it again without being penelised.
