To perform the ideal drift you need to use the steering wheel as soon as your front tires hit the yellow mark that signifies the beginning of the drift zone.
Avoid combining each time you get a new part because although it doesn't cost a lot for each transaction they will quickly add up. It makes more sense to wait and combine a part that you know you will use for a while so you do not go low on coins.
Although the tutorial suggests that you use a nirous oxide upgrade at the starting line to get a fast start it is more beneficial to save it for after you have done a bad drift and lost speed or to get in front of an opponent during the final approach to the finish line.
After the tutorial you will notice that races start to cost gasoline, you can totally refill your tank by gaining a driver level.
When you begin the game you will be given a choice of one of three 3 star cars as your starter. Do not put too much thought into this choice because about an hour into the game you will be discarding it for a 4 star car.
To get a fast start rev your engine to the RPMs that are marked by the green light on your tachometer.
Each day that you log in you will be rewarded with 10 free parts through the CP order. Although these parts will usually be lower end parts they can still be used to improve your higher-end parts by combining them.
Keep an eye out for special race events as entering these will give you the opportunity to get coins, tickets, and cars.
Each of the parts and cars have a star rating with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. Anything that you pick up which is less than three stars is not worth hanging on to.
Although you will get a fair amount of high-end items as you progress the best way to get the best equipment is to combine your lesser items with a better item to level it up for a stat boost.
You will not be given much of a challenge by your opponents in the Tutorial so take advantage of this time to experiment with timing your drifts.
