When you enter 'Spooky Gourd Helmet' as the name of any gun at the workbench a new option will be added to the 'Gear' section of the marketplace. This will be 'sPoOky PuMpy' which you can buy for 500 silver.

Don't attract the enemy to your whereabouts by using a shotgun or explosives to open doors, it is far better to make as least noise as possible. This can be accomplished by kicking through the door if it is locked.

Spend XP to upgrade a soldier's stats, these include Accuracy, Reaction Time, Health, Speed and Evasion.

A good strategy is to catch the enemy off guard by attacking them from the rear.
