Always keep an eye on the overheat display located at the bottom right of the screen. If you fire too many volleys in a row you will find yourself having to wait before you can fire again which can be fatal if you are being attacked by the enemy and you cannot defend yourself.

Bullet holes will appear on screen when you have been shot by an enemy. When this happens it will reduce your visibility and your plane will begin to smoke indicating that if you take a couple of hits more the game will be over.
