Introduction

Wahoo! More anime based games for crazed fanguys and girls. This kind of game has been done before, and will be done many more times in the future. What kind you ask? The kind of game that fans of the anime will adore and cherish, and that everyone is the world, will despise. What did you expect?

Graphics

This game will not be bought because of it's realistic graphics... Hell, if realism mattered, would anime even be popular? The graphics are done in a rather cartoonish style, with black outlines around the characters and defining features. Although the graphics make the characters look nothing like real human beings, who cares? It's anime. The graphics suite the game very well, and give the game an anime feel. Which, considering that almost everyone who buys this game will be a fan of the anime, is a very good thing.

Sound

If they had changed the voices from the anime, all the little fangirls and fanboys would riot and start throwing things, and plot to murder the game developers. So, luckily, the game developers value their lives and kept in the original voice actors. Although I was a bit disappointed in the fact that it wasn't in Japanese (as the previous Inu Yasha fighting game was) I am probably in the minority on that aspect, but I felt for my fellow Japanese culturalists I should mention that point. Being a fighting game, this game has a lot of yelling, screaming, grunting etc. Its rather obnoxious at times, but it adds to the mass-chaos of the game play. And I really do love mass chaos.

Gameplay

Most fans of fighting games will over look this because of it's anime title... And well, who could blame them? Most anime games, simply put, suck through the roof. This one, is actually rather fun to play. The controls are rather simple, so one could pick up a controller and start playing this game in no time. But mindless button mashing isn't always the right way to go. The enviorments are interactive, and can be smashed, chopped and pushed onto foes. Also, with the addition of a second (computer played) character to help you smash your foes around, play deepens a bit. With different computer player comands and "formations" there is a bit of stratagy involved. Although, if you don't like trying to keep an obnoxious team mate alive, button mashing works just fine.

Lastability

With three different levels of difficulty (easy, medium and hard) you can play through the story modes sevral times. Although, who really cares about story mode anyway... For most people, fighting games are all about battle mode. And, as all fighting games do, this game does a bit of a half-assed job on it. Yes, you can beat up your friends, but you'd think that with the whole work-with-a-partner concept you'd be able to team up with a friend. Although, sadly this aspect has been overlooked. Battle mode is still a fun, chaotic smack-down... Just, not as much fun as it may have been.

Overall

Inu Yasha: Fuedal Combat, is an average game. It will be bought by fans of the anime, and they will like it, hell they will love it. It won't be bought by people who haven't seen the anime, because their simply looking for a good, solid fighter. Which, I must say, doesn't really surprise me. So, my advice, if you enjoy the anime... Pick up the game, at only 39.99 at first release it's not bad, especially considering that most of you fan guys and gals have had the date of it's release marked on your calendar since you first heard of it. Any one else, this game isn't for you.
