Honkai: Star Rail is a Chinese role-playing gacha game that is the fourth installment in the Honkai series, drawing on characters from Honkai Impact 3rd and gameplay elements from Genshin Impact. • Upgrade Selective Characters

  The characters you acquire in Honkai: Star Rail can be upgraded along with their Light Cone in the 'Character' section. This is accessed by selecting 'Options' on the top right of your screen. In order to upgrade a character you will need special Character EXP materials, then additional materials to ascend them.

  It is important to keep in mind that the materials you require for upgrading are scarce so if you don't plan on investing real money into the game by buying the battle pass or special boxes for these items you need to be selective when it comes to upgrading your characters. A good strategy at the start of the game is to only upgrade four characters so you make a party with them and save the leftover materials.

  Trailblazer (Physical) is the main DPS in the team and should be leveled up first. Eventually, in order to beat the endgame content like the Memory of Chaos you will need to build eight or more characters and unless you have Silver Wolf it is crucial that you build at least one DPS character from each combat type.

• Understand your Characters' Abilities

  It is important that you read and fully understand the capabilities of your characters in Honkai: Star Rail as this will help you to synchronize your team members with each other in order to make them more effective in battle.

• Upgrade your Character's Abilities

  To upgrade your character's abilities select the 'Traces' option on the left of the screen where you can see all your characters. Every character in the game has six types of abilities you can upgrade. This includes 'Bonus Abilities' which can only be unlocked by upgrading the skill tree. • Test Characters Before Committing to Them

  Each character event banner in Honkai: Star Rail allows you to test four characters (including the limited-time ones) that you may not have tried before. • Explore Everywhere

  It is essential that you pay attention to your surroundings in Honkai: Star Rail and interact with everything you can. Just by thoroughly exploring everywhere you will be able to find plenty of chests, destructible objects, and readables.

  Readables in Honkai: Star Rail are collectible items that can be obtained by picking them up from open-world areas or during Missions. They feature short stories or reveal history and lore about the game.

• Find the Treasure Chests

  The total number of Treasure Chests in each area including the ones you have already opened can be easily seen by opening your map. Each chest in Honkai: Star Rail gives you at least 5 Stellar Jades, with some of them giving even more.

  Stellar Jades is the main currency of the game and it can be used to buy important things like Star Rail Pass and Trailblaze Power. The former is used to pull on the available banners, while the latter is needed to farm domains and bosses.

• Don't Waste your Stellar Jades

  Resist the temptation to use your Stellar Jades to refill your power because you can eventually farm more items when it refills automatically. Refilling power with Stellar Jades is only for players who want to invest real money into the game. If you are a free-to-play gamer you need to decide which character you want to use.

  The two main factors that should be considered when making your decision are will the character help your account move forward? And is the character better than the other characters you have from the same combat type or path?

• Don't Skip the Dialogue

  Make sure you take the time to read the dialogue in Honkai: Star Rail as doing so during quests will give you hints of the location of desired items which will not be shown on the map. Reading the dialogue will also enable you to find out more about the game's lore and the characters you use in your adventure.

• Use Auto-Battle for Easy Tasks

  Honkai: Star Rail features an auto-battle option which you should take advantage of to alleviate accessibility issues and make the game easier to manage. Auto-battle also comes in useful when you need to use your Trailblaze Power to farm for Character Ascension and Trace Materials, XP books, and other items used for strengthening your characters.

• Teleport with Space Anchors

  Use Space Anchors instead of the Astral Express to instantly teleport to the different planets in Honkai: Star Rail. Space Anchors are marked with blue color on your map and you can teleport to them at any point.

  Aside from instant teleportation, Space Anchors can also be used to regenerate your team's health when they are very low on HP after they have been revived automatically after a tough battle.
