Chapter 12: Death Factory

The Chapter begins with a CS of an old adobe building and one of the Saints – the elite ICA Hit Team – who it seems has one of her targets all tied up. She takes a call and then puts a knife into the target, then informs her team that they have a new assignment.

The next CS shows the Dexter Industries Research Facilities as a tour guide informs you that this is where the magic happens. Agent 47 begins the level at the lift doors that you just used from the previous Chapter.

Primary Suit Only Infiltrator Run-through


This is the Primary Suit Only and Infiltrator run-through but we will also try to unlock any other Challenges that are convenient. A point should be made that the business that Dexter Industries is in is the business of making things that kill people, and business is good! There are a lot of interesting ambient conversations that you can listen in on for your amusement.

Primary Test Facility Suit Only Infiltrator Run-through

Test Facility Level


Heading down the hall you enter the first room on the left of the hallway to see Dexter Security interrogating a Scientist. This room is where you find the Keycard so be sure to grab that. Head back outside to the desk and activate the fire alarm to lure one of the Guards out of the interrogation room. Head in and incap the other Guard, and then sneak back to the alarm and incap the Guard who went to see what was up with that...

Drag him back into the room to conceal the body. Now use the computer in the room next door where you got the Keycard to open the secret doors to the next area, then head back to the desk and down the hall through the now opened doors!

After you ride the lift down you will find a Keycard on a wooden crate to the right, and after you grab the Keycard backtrack to the ladder and climb to the catwalk, then ninja your way along and you can make your way to the far side, but you may want to decide how you are going to kill the Doctor before you do that...

There are three primary ways to do that, and they are activating the mine field when he is in or near it, sabotaging the mine he examines, or shooting the glass floor and causing him to fall to an accidental death (hopefully accidental as long as you are not detected). The method that I chose was to sabotage the mine, not because it was easy but because it was cool.

Head across the catwalk to the other side opposite corner and head down the stairs there, stealth your way through the security room to the lab room beyond it and pull the power breaker to get the Guards to leave the room. Then go in and disable the Security using the computer there to fulfill the primary objective.

Now go back to the lab and get the Proximity Sensor Disabler from the shelf by the computer and install it in the partly disassembled mine on the table, at which point you can then retreat to the catwalk and double back all the way to the lift at the beginning of the level as that is also the area where the exit is located. Depending upon the timing of the Doctor's patrol path you may have to linger at the exit for a minute or less, before he sets off the mine and dies, completing the other Primary Objective. At this point you can now leave the level.

Primary Test Facility Suit Only Infiltrator Run-through

The Decontamination Area Level


This level begins with Agent 47 having walked through the doors into it – ahead of him is a Guard and in the rooms on the side are Guards and Scientists. Your Primary Objectives are to find the Silo Entrance and Disable the Security System. So in casual ninja-style make your way down the hall and through the Shower area to the valve and turn it to increase the heat level and thus the steam in the area. That is a distraction that will permit you to get over to the door on the other side and throw something to distract the Guard there so you can slip inside the Security Room and disable the Security System.

You may need to duck into the adjacent room and hide before you can backtrack out again, since a Scientist will patrol through it. Once they leave use the heating vent to reach the Silo Exit doors which are to the right up the stairs after you exit from the heating duct. Going through the doors here completes this level!

Primary Test Facility Suit Only Run-through

R & D Area Level Suit Only Run-through


Note: While you can do both Suit Only and Infiltrator for the previous levels you cannot do that for the R&D Level due to the placement of the robot arm and all of the Guards and Scientists. Basically there is no way to do this without being detected unless you use a disguise, hence the division for this level with respect to the two Challenges.

As you enter this area head into the first room on the left and subdue the enemy at the bottom of the stairs, then ninja your way through the room at the bottom of the stairs and head left and down some more stairs and you will find a Checkpoint. Use that and then grab the notebook with the Safety Code in it off of the counter. You can use that code for the kill if you want to...

Basically you just sneak back to the previous room and use the code to shut off the Electric Beam Weapon, and then wait for Dr. Valentine to come in and enter the area where the target dummies are. Now simply sneak back to the keyboard and restart the Weapon to gain an accidental kill on Dr. Valentine. That is one target down and one to go!

Heading back to the room where you obtained the Safety Code notebook, open the door and ninja out on the catwalk to overlook the area with the second target. Sneak along the catwalk and down exiting on the right side to take cover.

When the Guards and Scientists have their backs to you, make your way down to the center area and shoot the target. That will unlock the Achievement “A Heavy Blow” (10G) You assassinated the facility leaders.

Now simply fight however many of the Guards are left to be fought and then make your way to the platform and activate it to call the Bridge, then wait for it to arrive and make your way across! Easy-peasy Lemon-squeezy!

After crossing the Bridge you enter the DNA Lab and listen to the computer log that was made by the Scientist. Once that plays out you sabotage the racks along the walls – there are two of them – and then head out the door to end the mission.

You will unlock the Techniques Pure Instincts III, Hand-to-Hand III, and Dual-Wielding Expertise III.

You will also have unlocked the Challenges Suit Only, The Shock Doctrine, The Common Good, and Ground Zero.

Primary Test Facility Infiltrator Run-through

R & D Area Level Infiltrator Run-through


As you enter this area head into the first room on the left and subdue the enemy at the bottom of the stairs and take his uniform, then ninja your way through the room at the bottom of the stairs and head left and down some more stairs and you will find a Checkpoint. Use that and then grab the notebook with the Safety Code in it off of the counter. The log on the counter can be played to learn more about Sanchez, who is an augmented human, which you might like to know since you have to deal with him.

Basically you just sneak back to the previous room and use the code to shut off the Electric Beam Weapon, and then wait for Dr. Valentine to come in and enter the area where the target dummies are. Now simply sneak back to the keyboard and restart the Weapon to gain an accidental kill on Dr. Valentine. That is one target down and one to go!

Now head down to the main lab area below along the catwalk and down the stairs, then double back to the lab with the robotic arm in it and stand at the computer out of sight of the Guards. In your Guard disguise the Scientists will ignore you – when the target enters and approaches the robotic arm you use the PC to activate it, scoring a second accidental kill, and then stealth your way back out and towards the Bridge Controls using Instinct to prevent the other Guards from detecting you.

Call the Bridge then head into the lab and listen to the log entry before sabotaging the computers to destroy the data they have on Victoria, and then exit the zone to complete the level and Chapter, unlocking the Challenges Infiltrator, Experimenting, Strap Him In, and Unseen. Well done you!

Challenges Strategies
Note that this is one of the few Chapters in the game where you will be doing a lot of replays to wrap up all of the Challenges... The primary play-through is for Suit Only and Infiltrator plus.

Chameleon
Pick up all of the disguises in the level. These consist of the Factory Guard, Researcher, and Scientist disguises. This is probably best accomplished on a Rambo play-through.

Unlocking the Evidence Collector Challenge

Evidence Collector
Find all of the evidence in the level.

Evidence 1: The Test Area
Collect the dossier from the room that Dr. Green is in; on a desk near the rear wall.

Evidence 2: The Decontamination Area
Collect the dossier from the coffee table in the center of the room where guards are watching TV.

Evidence 3: The Research Area
Collect the dossier from the table with the monitors, in the lower section of the Research Area.

Infiltrator
Avoid being spotted. Note that you cannot combine this Challenge with the Suit Only Challenge on the last level of the Chapter, R&D, because the level is set up so that you cannot complete Infiltrator without using a disguise.

Suit Only
Avoid using disguises. Note that you cannot combine this Challenge with the Infiltrator Challenge on the last level of the Chapter, R&D, because the level is set up so that you cannot complete Infiltrator without using a disguise.

Good Test Results
Kill Dr. Green by activating the minefield prematurely. You do this by making your way to the control booth above the area – the one with the glass floor you shoot for The Abyss Gazes Back – and then waiting until the Doctor is down below inspecting the mines and activate the field.

Unlocking the Abyss Gazes Back Challenge

The Abyss Gazes Back
Kill Dr. Green by destroying the glass floor of the Test Chamber. This can me shot out from below. Alternatively if you have trouble getting through the minefields undetected you can go up and use a Guard disguise to shoot the floor from inside the control room as per the video above. Once you do that all you have to do is hide until you get the Clear notice and then ninja to the exit.

The Common Good
Kill Dr. Green by sabotaging the proximity mine he examines. To do this you use the Proximity Detector which is located on the shelf in the room with the guards that you pass through to get to the lab with the disassembled mine to sabotage it. Once you do that you can leave the area and head back towards the exit. When the target approaches the table they will set off the mine and die, thus unlocking this Challenge.

Scientific Thoroughness
Complete the Good Test Results, The Abyss Gazes Back, and Common Good.

Unlocking the Happy Birthday! Challenge

Happy Birthday!
Kill all of Carl's friends but leave him alive. After you enter the party room, incap the stripper and hide her body, then hide in the cake. When the Guards and Carl come in, trigger the point Shooting session, then be sure you kill all of the Guards FIRST. You can actually then kill Carl and this will still unlock.

In the Right Space
Climb into the vacuum test chamber and kill Valentine with it.

The Shock Doctrine
Kill Valentine using the Shock Lab. You will unlock this Challenge during the first Suit Only or the second Infiltrator run-through if you do the accidental kill on him.

Doctor in the House
Complete In the Right Space, Shock Doctor, and Eureka!

Strap Him In
Find Dr. Ashford in his exam room and kill him in his chair. You will unlock this Challenge during the second, Infiltrator, run-through. It is unlocked for using the robotic arm to kill the Doctor.

Unseen
Kill Dr. Ashford when the silo steam conceals you; hide his body and escape undetected. You may unlock this Challenge during the second, Infiltrator, run-through as it is slightly bugged and can unlock while you are doing the Strap Him In Challenge. If it does not unlock you will need to do another play-through to unlock it using the steam option if you did not before.

Experimenting
Complete Strap Him In and Unseen. You may unlock this Challenge during the second, Infiltrator, run-through.

Unlocking the Eureka! Challenge

Eureka!
Kill the Dr. by swapping his hair tonic for fuel. The fuel is found in the lab just below the one with the glowing green beaker that is the hair tonic. Just grab the fuel then apply it to the green beaker and it will change to glowing red. And it is actually Fire Paste you are looking for on the shelf in the Lab...

Research and Hidings
Subdue seven researchers and conceal their bodies without being seen.

Ground Zero
Clear the mission.

Reap What you Sow - Part 1
Dump a yellow scientist body in the pig swill without being detected.

Reap What you Sow - Part 2
Dump five yellow scientist bodies in the pig swill without being detected.

Mastery
Complete all of the challenges in the level.
