Another Harvest Moon game, pretty much the same as others. You play a farmer who is taking over his father's farm. In this one it is your job to get married, have a family, and raise a farm. You play a boy and have a choice of 3 women to marry Celia, Muffy, and Nami.
The graphics are quite good for the gamecube though there is definate room for improvement. People are a bit blocky as are animals. Though the scenary is nice. They could probably be improved much more but it would ruin some of the original aspects of them game.
The sound is nice maybe for the first chapter of the game. But it is very repetetive changing only per season. And for special events. It would have been nice to see more of a variety considering you will be listening to it alot, considering the game takes alot of time. Sound effects are kept at a minimum but the ones that are there are quite fitting and good.
Gameplay includes raising animals and crops. Rasing animals varies from feeding them, milking cows, brush/washing them, riding the horse, taking eggs from chickens, and impregnating cows. Crops are simple, water them, fertilize, harvest. The game is repetetive in that manor. But there is also friendships and getting a wife. Relationship building is a good break from the farming life and can be very rewarding.
Lastability? Well to complete the game prettty much covers this. The game is long. And by long I mean an epic. This game is very time consuming and is impossible to finish in a couple of days. 40 days = 1 year. Chapters consist of 1-5 years and there are 8 chapters. Even more this game is insanely addictive for some reason. And is really fun to just replay entirely. Try to play it differently each time.
Near perfect game such a simple idea makes it soo addictive and fun to play. Being such a long paced game and time consuming makes it good for replaying. The paths you can take gives you a new experience each time. Befriending, marrying, and getting your child to choose a different career each time gives it a unique feeling each play. Though sound could have alot of improvements and graphics a bit of an upgrade it is still a good game to try out. Rent it first then buy it.
