    Information - Lucky the black cat is back but this time she only

                  has seven white kittens with her on the 5x5 board.

                  Both Lucky and the kittens can jump over any kitten

                  that is on a horizontally, vertically, or diagonally

                  adjacent square. Jumping over a kitten removes the

                  kitten the grid, but Lucky cannot be jumped over.

                  Can you make the cats jump around the board so that

                  Lucky is once again left alone on the board, sitting

                  in the middle?

    Information - A man went to visit his friend in the hospital. He

                  got 500 meters from the front door before he

                  remembered that he wanted some flowers. He went back

                  to the flower shop and continued to the hospital.

                  The flower shop on a straight line between his house

                  and the hospital, 800 meters from the hospital.

                  Afterward the man walked straight home on the same

                  road. How many total meters did he walk between

                  leaving home and returning?

    Solution    - He walked a total of 2600 meters.

    Information - Mr. B: "Now then, as you know, we're all going to

                  close our shops for one day a week, but we all have

                  to pick a different day. The other shopkeepers

                  already circled the days they'd be happy with, so its

                  just you two left."

                  Mr. A: "I'll choose on whichever day as long as it's

                  not Sunday."

                  Mr. C: "Oh I'll just close on the day before Mr. A.

                  That's okay, right?"

                  In the end, which day did each of the seven

                  shopkeepers take as their day off?

    Information - Another pizza gone wrong for our ham-handed chef!

                  This time he managed to flip exactly half of the

                  pizza upside down. He tried to flip it back up, but

                  the cheese is spread just as thickly as on the last

                  pizza, and every time he tries to flip a slice, the

                  adjacent slices flip over with it.

                  Can you a way to get the whole pizza back the right

                  wauy up, toppings and all?

    Solution    - Starting from the top slice, count clockwise and flip

                  slices 7, 1, 5 and finally 8.

    Puzzle 070  - A Perilous Adventure

    Information - This little purple ant wants to cross a sea of

                  pencils to join its red friend. It always walks on

                  top of the pencils and can only go along each pencil

                  once. It's too small to climb from one pencil onto

                  another. As the situation is now, the ant will not be

                  able to get from its starting point to its goal at

                  the red arrow. However by moving just one colored

                  pencil, you can help it reach the goal.

                  Which colored pencil should you move?

    Solution    - Circle the pink colored pencil the ant is on.

    Information - You're trying to cut this 6x6 chessboard into four

                  sections that are the same shape, are of equal area,

                  and each contain three pawns. To complicate matters,

                  you want at least one white and one black pawn in

                  every section.

                  Can you find a way to do it? Draw lines on the board

                  to show where to cut it. Keep in mind solutions may

                  be rotated buy cannot be mirrored.

    Solution    - * Figure A includes squares: A1, A2, A3, B3, C2, D3,

                    E3, E2.

                  * Figure B includes squares: B1, B2, C1, D1, D2, E1,

                    F1, F3.

    Puzzle 072  - A Cup of Tiles

    Picarats    - 40

    Information - This two colored mosaic of a coffee cup was made

                  using red and white tiles. You want to make an

                  identical picture, but you only have a set of large

                  tile that are each 3x3 squares.

                  Can you recreate the picture by layering the tiles

                  you have available? The tiles can overlap as many

                  times as you want.

    Solution    - 1. Place a red tile at the bottom right corner.

                  2. Place a white tile directly above the red tile.

                  3. Place a white tile so that its top right edge

                     overlaps with center of the previous white tile.

                  4. Place a red tile 2 squares from top, 1 from right.

                  5. Place a red tile so that its top right edge

                     overlaps with center of red tile you just placed.

                  6. Place a white tile 1 square from top and right.

                  7. Cover the top portion of grid with 3 red tiles.

                  8. Place remaining 2 red tiles at bottom left corner

                     and another one directly right of that.

                  9. Form body of the cup with 4 remaining white tiles.

    Puzzle 070  - Ancient Arithmetic

    Picarats    - 45

    Information - An elite archeological team unearthed a stone tablet

                  in the remains of an ancient settlement. According to

                  one excited researcher, it's a near perfect specimen

                  of arithmetic homework from the era.

                  The strange letters represent numbers while the

                  operations  , -, and = are the same as the ones we

                  use today. Sadly, the bottom right corner of the

                  tablet is broken.

                  What should the missing section say?

    Solution    - The number of sides a symbol has indicates the number

                  it represents, so in this case the shapes mean: 34  

                  53 = 87. The answer you're looking for is CB.

    Information - These odd rabbit toys keep hopping back!

                  There are three rules:

                  1. The rabbits can only move by jumping horizontally,

                     diagonally or vertically over other rabbits.

                  2. They can jump over any number of rabbits at once.

                  3. A white rabbit will turn brown when jumped over

                     and vice versa.

                  Can you make all the rabbits here turn brown 

                  following the rules given above?

                  D: "If only I hadn't lost to B..."

    Information - You have two wooden crates without lids. All the

                  inside dimensions of both crates (length, width,

                  height) are 30 cm. You also have numerous boxes with

                  a length and width of 20 cm and height of 10 cm. You

                  want to pack as many of these into the crates as

                  possible.

                  If you use both crates, what's the maximum number of

                  boxes that you can fit at once? There musn't be any

                  part of the boxes sticking out of the crates.

    Solution    - A total of 12 boxes will fit.

                     green box and my hat in the black."

                  3. "I keep my drum in the green box and everything

                     else in the white box."

                  The clowns have each put one thing into a box, and no

                  two clowns put away the same thing. The black and

                  green boxes are empty. Which box contains the ball?

    Solution    - The yellow box has the ball so the answer is "C".

                  Each porter can carry up to 20 lbs at once, and they

                  want to carry both pieces of luggage in one trip. How

                  should they carry the luggage?

    Solution    - Put both pieces luggage between the porters.

                  but she wants to design the rest so that none of the

                  other parts are the same color as any adjacent part.

                  What is the minimum number of differently colored

                  sheets she will need, including the yellow sheet for

                  the sword parts?

    Solution    - She needs a minimum of 3 sheets.

    Information - Oh dear! It seems you've accidentally broken a window

                  while playing near a grand manor. The lady of the

                  house didn't lose her cool but just told you this:

                  "I'd like you to use these six colored pieces of tape

                  to mend the window exactly as shown in this drawing.

                  The tape should go on the inside of the window, of

                  course." 

                  The drawing shows the window as she'd like to look

                  from the outside. Can you apply the tape to the

                  window so that she's satisfied?

    Solution    - 1. Blue tape horizontally on the center.

                  2. Red tape vertically on the center.

                  3. Orange tape horizontally on the bottom.

                  4. Green tape vertically on the right.

                  5. Pink tape horizontally on top.

                  6. Yellow tape vertically on the left.

    Information - Three darts players have just finished a game. Based

                  on the point totals, can you work out how many points

                  each different color section of the dartboard is

                  worth? No two sections have the same value, and their

                  values increase the closer they are to the center.

                  Each is worth a single digit value of at least one

                  point.

    Solution    - A: 9, B: 7, C: 5, D: 4.

    Puzzle 084  - Neon Orange

    Information - The sign on this shop has the logo in the middle,

                  surrounded by eight orange neon lights. Each light

                  consists of a circle divided into 16 segments, some

                  of which glow blue according to a ceratin pattern.

                  Can you work out which segements should be lit in the

                  top circle, marked with a question mark? Touch a

                  segment to light it blue or turn it off.

    Solution    - Starting from the top, label the segments 1-16.

                  Counting clockwise, mark segement 6.

    Information - The numbers on this giant slot machine aren't random.

                  In fact, there's a rule that determines the sequence

                  of numbers that appear everytime you activate it.

                  Your task is to work out the rule and predict what

                  four digit number will appear next. Be warned

                  though -- you only have five chances.

                  Touch the numbers on the touch screen to make your

                  prediction. When you're ready, touch the orange

                  button to activate the slot machine.

    Solution    - The numbers match the days of months. To predict the

                  next number, input the last day of the next month.

                 "The total values of all the numbers I can read from

                 Can you rotate as few cards as possible so that you

                 and the dealer both have the same score?

    Solution    - Rotate the "7" card.

    Information - These cheerful tiles can be put together so they form

                  horse shapes in four different colors. With these

                  nine tiles, you can make a total of 12 uniformly

                  colored horses within the frame, but at the moment

                  the colors are all mixed up!

                  Can you rotate the nine tiles to match up all colors

                  and make 12 horses?

    Solution    - 1. Turn top left tile to the right once.

                  2. Turn top center tile to the right once.

                  3. Turn center tile to the right once.

                  4. Turn left center tile to the right once.

                  5. Turn bottom right tile to the left once.

                  6. Turn bottom left tile to the left twice.

    Solution    - 01. Drag yellow cable piece to upper left corner.

                  02. Drag blue L piece up then right.

                  03. Drag green L up all the way.

                  04. Drag clock left all the way.

                  05. Drag small green L left and up next to clock.

                  06. Drag green T block left then down.

                  07. Drag yellow cable piece down all the way.
