Pokemon Ribbons

Ribbons are a significant element throughout the Pokemon games, though perhaps they are one of the unsung elements in the sense that they are largely the pursuit of the more serious Trainers who play.  Slowly that is changing, and with any luck the newest generation -- Pokemon Black & White -- will help to change that, especially considering the attention that Ribbons have been receiving in Japan.

If you are new to the games -- or not familiar with the Ribbons -- a wide variety of activities have Ribbons connected to them.  There is one for maxing out a Pokemon's EV's, and one for defeating the Elite Four and pretty much everything in between.  Below is a complete list of the Ribbons that are associated with (and available in) Pokemon Emerald.

There are a few things you should know -- first that Ribbons transfer with your Pokemon.

If you started with a Pokemon from this generation (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, and LeafGreen) you could earn the game-specific Ribbons in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, transfer the Pokemon to FireRed and LeafGreen and earn the Ribbons specific to those games, transfer to Pokemon Colleseum and earn its Robbons, then XD: Gales of Darkness and and then make the one-way transfer into the DS generation of games (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum) and earn the Ribbons from those, as well as Pokemon Battle Revolution.

In addition to all of that, if you attended the different Tourney and World Events, you could obtain Ribbons from those, and the special Pokemon from WiFi and Live events may also have unique Ribbons that are only obtained from those events.  In short, while Ribbons have been around pretty much since the 3rd Generation of the games, they are now coming into vogue, and being noticed in ways that they never were before!
