Sequence 06, Memory 02 -- Honor, Lost and Won

This mission is a bit more complicated than the others because while it is structured so that you can easily figure out what to do and complete it, the path that you have to take in order to obtain 100% Synchronization is simply contrary to the flow of how it pushes you, which means that most gamers would not reach that desired end without considerable trial-and-error and frustration.

To obtain 100% Synchronization on this mission you must assassinate Tarik using an air-assassination -- but the path that is most obvious in the mission is one of direct confrontation.  Add to that the artificial limiter in the level that causes your presence to be "discovered" if you behave in an incongruous manner, and what you end up with -- as noted above -- is a potentially frustrating experience!

So assuming that you want to do this mission once and obtain full synchronization this will help you in accomplishing that goal:

When the mission starts you are walking with a group of Janissaries and your goal is to follow them and gain access to the camp.  As you move along eventually you encounter a citizen who gets a target marker -- to maintain your cover you need to beat the man down until he passes out -- with your hands, not a weapon.  Once you do that you follow the Janissary group some more and, eventually you get a CS at the entrance to the camp in which you learn that they have discovered the body of the victim whose uniform you have appropriated.

Luckily they seem to think the plan is to do an attack in their name in the city rather than infiltrate their base -- but you still must be very Ninja in how you do this mission -- so first, as soon as the CS ends and you find yourself blended in the group, leave it and enter the tent that is to your right.  You can safely pause here to pan your view around, getting the lay of the land.

To accomplish your synchronization goal you will need to take a route along the right-hand-side of the camp rather than up the middle -- but that means getting past and-or dealing with the enemy you will face or risk being discovered.  You ALSO must do the dispatching of them without being seen -- but if you take this slow and careful that should be cake.

Along the right side is a group of Janissary you have to deal with -- there are a few ways that you can play this but I prefer direct action -- so let us assess the tactical situation.

There is the group of Janissary behind the tent by the wall, and a solo one who patrols around the tent we are in, plus another group to the left in front who can more or less see the ones in the back.  If we wait for the patrolling Janissary to walk around the far side of the tent we can duck out and drop a Datura Bomb on the group in back, then duck back into the tent and wait for the group in front and the one patrolling to come investigate -- and then pop out and drop a second Datura Bomb on THEM --

With them all dead now, head along the right side past them and up to the Bomb-Crafting Station ahead of you -- if you do not have Smoke Bombs now would be a good time to make some.  Ideally you should have Cherry, Smoke, and Datura Bombs at your disposal as they are the most useful for being a Ninja Assassin.  I am just saying...

Assassinating Tarik

-- On the Other Side of the Bomb-Crafting Station --

Be careful to stay to the left so you do not expose yourself to the patrolling Janissary ahead and, when his back is to you, drop into the Hay Pile below.  When he approaches do a hidden-assassination on him, pulling his body into the Hay Pile and thus concealing it.  Stay in the pile so that the Janissary patrolling on the left who may walk over to look having heard something does not see you.

When it is safe to do so, continue along the right side and then make your way to the marker on the map on the other side of the camp -- if you start to get noticed RUN to the marker since getting to it will play a CS that makes Tarik a target and will have you emerge from the CS safely blended in with a group of Janissary.

The simple way to do this is to walk out of the group towards the Hay Wagon on the right side of the camp and then drop a Smoke Bomb as you approach it so you can climb in without being seen.  Assassinate the Janissary here from inside the wagon immediately and then wait for whoever comes to investigate the Smoke Bomb to do so and leave.

Watch the patrol patterns and when nobody is looking jump out and scale the roof of the structure ahead of you -- run across the roof, jump to the overhang on the wall, and then jump and run along the beams to the second scaffold along the wall.  Target Tarik with Left Trigger and then wait until he is directly below you and do an air-assassination on him.

As soon as you have control over Ezio immediately drop another Smoke Bomb and then run back towards that right-hand side under the structure whose roof you used and then scale the other walls and jump, landing in the flower bed.  Now continue running in that same direction until you reach the water, jump in, swim out, and dive to end the mission, gaining 100% Synchronization with very little effort!  Well done!
