Flight School: Runway Landing

This lesson is actually a lot harder than it looks and a lot of players end up with just the bronze on it because the timer is actually very very short for gold AND silver. To get gold you have to do this in under 35 seconds, while silver is under 55 seconds, and bronze is 1 minute and 10 seconds.

The trick here is actually properly interpreting what the game wants as opposed to what it appears to want. It appears to want you to land on the runway, taxi to the marker, then turn, taxi to the second marker, and stop.

If you do this mission that way you are not getting a gold medal.

To get a gold medal you need to do the following:

(1) Accelerate down the runway, lower the landing gear, and touch down just before the first marker;

(2) IMMEDIATELY slow down and turn left, point the nose at the second marker and stop the plane in that parking spot.

This may take you several tries to get gold because basically you have to complete this spending as little time as possible actually taxiing on the runway!

The important thing to understand here is that you do not have to stop the plane directly on the second marker, it just has to be in the zebra-stripe parking area that the marker indicates (but not too far away).

By waiting to touch down until just before the first marker you eliminate a lot of the time it takes to taxi -- which is way slower than flying obviously -- and that is the trick here to getting gold. If you do it the way that the game shows in the CS you will be lucky to get bronze.

Gold should be easy.
