While chatting with your buddies, a neat effect will occur if someone happens to say a certain word, perhaps causing an animation to go off somewhere in the environment among many other possibilities. The Sonic Team programmed animations and other effects coupled with over 150 secret words in this quest and left it up for the PSO players to discover them on our own. Hildetorr was able to get a hold of the quest data and now we believe to have ALL the secret words and effects in this quest documented. After he found the quest data and gave it to L255J, we wrote this guide to save others time in trying to figure out what the words were and what they did. Because random effects happen if you just hang around saying nothing for long periods of time, that of course made our job a little harder. Finally, after a lot of word and effect testing, this guide is the first to have all the words and effects of this quest in one place. But first, the quest needs to be explained to those who don't know what it's about. This is an online-only quest that is available year-round for all player types. It's sort of a social quest, as there's no objective to it nor a reward. It's there simply for fun. When you and (most likely you'll want to be with friends) your friends have all loaded the quest, you'll find yourselves on Pioneer 2 in Episode 2. This quest does not change depending on what difficulty you're playing, except for when you say one special effect command to summon only a handful of enemies, which will, of course, wield power appropriate to the difficulty level. =============================================================================== [3] WHEN YOU FIRST BEGIN =============================================================================== 1) Further Background Information ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's nighttime, or at least it is over the area of Ragol that the spaceship is over, and the lights have all been dimmed. There are only two doors open for you. One of them leads to the warp for the Lab, and the only other one is at the Lab that leads to Gal Da Val Island's Seashore area (it's your only option at that warp). All other areas have been closed off. You might as well head down to the seashore, as it's the only place you can go. Note that no one else is around Pioneer 2 at this time other than the guild receptionist. When you arrive at the seashore, you'll notice that there is only one area available to you, and that is the actual seashore. Rocks blockade access to all other areas. As said previously, it's nighttime and a campfire surrounded by rocks has been placed in the middle of the main beach shore. This quest exists merely for you and your friends to privately chat in a different environment, though in a much more pleasing atmosphere than the lobby. For a little added fun, when you say certain special words, the quest file (not the server) may either perform an animation somewhere for you to see, change the background music, or do a number of many other neat things. People have been trying to figure out what all the words are in this quest and what effects they do by saying them and taking note, with most effects having more than one word that activates them. As said previously, we now have all of them and they are compiled here for your personal use. ** * * * * * * * ** ** SPOILER WARNING ** ** * * * * * * * ** If you find it even more recreational to figure out the words and their effects yourself, it is suggested that you back out at this point. However, if you would like to figure out the words with hints, some hints are provided below the first arrow that's being used as a spoiler buffer. Scrolling down past both arrows will reveal the words and their effects. ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** *** ***** *** *** ***** *** *** ***** *** *** ***** *** ********* ***** * ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) Hints ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For those that would like to figure out the words themselves, but want some hints to help them do it, here are some provided: 1) Transport Effects The name of the category almost gives it away. Try to come up with words that have to do with traveling quickly. 2) Firework Effects Same deal. Try to come up with words that relate to fireworks and the onomatopoeias that describe what they do. 3) Other Sky Effects Come up with words that deal with the sky, the stars, what can be seen up there, and what falls from there as well. 4) Sound & Music Effects The SFX words would be tough to hint out without fully giving away. Think of possible game show noises that sound off at various points in a game show, such as right and wrong answers. Some of these words have to do with music. To have a chance at finding them, the names of the games that the songs are from do need to be revealed: Burning Rangers (JP) Chu Chu Rocket! Samba de Amigo Ver. 2000 Nights Into Dreams 5) Combat Effects Come up with descriptions of things that are important during battle, such as your character's well-being and status, in addition to descriptions of a foe from Seabed. 6) Screen Effects Think of words that refer to extremes in contrast changes that could happen to your screen and words that might portray how you feel about one of the hues. 7) Character Effects This category has almost no similarities between the effects except what they happen to, unfortunately. Giving hints will unfortunately, like the music, give away how many there are. For one, think of things shouted by the announcer at the beginning of the race. Think of words that are more prevalent on Valentine's Day. Also try to come up with words that have to deal with descriptions of light. 8) Campfire Effects While one might think that this is a giveaway, it's really not that easy. This is also a surprisingly broad category where the effects have little to do with each other besides all taking place somewhere near the campfire. One of the four does have to deal with the fire itself, another has to deal with spooky apparitions, a third has to deal with one of the famous icons of the Olympics, with the fourth having to deal with rain-like emissions of sparks. 9) Ocean Effects Try to come up with descriptions of the surface of the water, as well as words that have to deal with bad weather. Sorry, but the last one's words have nothing to do with each other--can't tell you what it is. ;D Good luck finding the words on your own. However, if you just want them, they're past this next arrow. ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** *** ***** *** *** ***** *** *** ***** *** *** ***** *** ********* ***** * =============================================================================== [4] THE WORDS =============================================================================== Here, we have grouped all the words and their effects into nine different categories. do so at any time you want. Head back to Pioneer 2, preferably by saying "door" or "opening" to quicken it up, and go through the warp to the Pioneer 2 Lab. You'll notice right off the bat that the Lab Head, Natasha Milarose, is standing outside the warp's door. If you bother speaking to her, she'll complain to you, saying this: "What are you guys doing here in middle [sic] of the night?" "Hmm... And look at the floor. It's all wet." "..." "Well, I see..." "I know how things can be. I'll let you go this time." "But don't let me catch you like this again." Speaking to her afterwards will only cause her to repeat that last line. You'll also notice that the door to the seashore has been locked. Not a problem, as you can always redo the quest whenever you want to as often as you'd like. Talk to the guild receptionist to end the quest and head back to the lobby. =============================================================================== [5] CONTACT INFORMATION =============================================================================== You can contact Hildetorr by AIM and L255J by e-mail. Hildetorr: "Hero Chaos Chao" L255J: [email protected] If you find any errors in the information provided, feel free to e-mail L255J about it. Be cautious, however, when trying to warn us about possible errors in the word lists. There are quite a few false words circulating on the Internet. I'll give you a couple of examples: "BOOM!" supposedly activates the blue light that moves about the shrubbery behind the rocks that are near the campfire. In actuality, the correct word "boo" happens to be a part of the fake word "(BOO)M!" "Photon" supposedly activates the flaring of the campfire, accompanied by the background music changing into the song Burning Hearts ~Honou no ANGEL~ from Burning Rangers (JP). However, many can easily overlook the fact that "hot" also happens to be a part of the fake word "P(hot)on". If you've compared your potential action word in question to the words we've listed and see no overlapping, and have tested it out yourself, go ahead and e-mail L255J about it and he'll test it out himself. Your help will be noted in the credits. The only thing the authors of this guide themselves are unsure about is the second set of action words listed under "6) CHARACTER EFFECTS". Because L255J cannot retest those words himself anymore, don't hesitate to help us and other PSO players out by reconfirming them yourself. The only other help this guide might need would be better descriptions for the middle two SFX action words listed under "3) SOUND & MUSIC EFFECTS". A better description would likely include where else the sounds are heard. =============================================================================== [6] CREDITS =============================================================================== Sometimes it takes more than one person to make any piece of written work possible. Listed here is all who were involved and what they did: Sam "L255J" Shaw: This one is responsible for the grand majority of the written text of this guide. L255J also performed all revisions and subsequent testing of the action words after the initial tests. Jesse "Super Slash" Winstead: Gave helpful information concerning the presentation of this guide. Mark "Hildetorr" Blackwell: This dude acquired the extracted quest data, and along with L255J, tested out all the words and composed the original guide. Sean "Kirbix" D'Hoostelaere: He provided helpful critique concerning this guide's format. =============================================================================== [7] REVISION HISTORY =============================================================================== Current Version: 3.0 Current Version Date: 04/26/08 04/18/06 Guide is made by Hildetorr and L255J, version 1.0 04/21/06 Guide is cleaned up, version 1.01 02/04/07 Contact information updated, version 1.02 02/10/07 Minor update, version 1.03 03/16/07 Minor fixes, version 1.04 03/23/07 Created a Table of Contents and added dividers, version 1.1 03/25/07 More minor fixes, version 1.11 03/26/07 Another minor update, version 1.12 04/07/07 Almost rewrote the entire guide, version 2.0 05/25/07 Changed a couple minor things, version 2.01 08/09/07 Replaced the lists with much more easily-readable tables, version 2.1 04/21/08 Reorganized charts, removed erroneous words, descriptions, version 2.2 04/26/08 Reorganized charts, inserted spoiler warning & hints, version 3.0 =============================================================================== [8] WHAT TO EXPECT IN FUTURE UPDATES =============================================================================== Not much.
