This time on an adventure to locate the seven magical, mystical Crystal Stars, save Peach, and protect the demise of Rogueport and the entirity of the world. Luigi: Throughout the chapters Luigi is somewhere in Rougeport with some odd, altered enemy (Like a walking white flame). He is also out on an adventure to save a Princess of the Waffle Kingdom and Get Compass parts. It is really a book, and he tries to make Mario Impressed by getting a partner based off the book and telling Mario the story from the Book. Princess Peach: Sends Mario a treasure map after getting it from a suspicious being. She is then kidnapped by the X-Nauts, and works out a strange relationship with the base computer, TEC. Toadsworth: Our favorite toad who travels with Peach. This time, however, he was not even aware the princess was kidnapped. He stays at the Inn throughout the game. Bowser: The great evil Koopa King. He too, tries to get his own Crystal Star, but much like Lord Crump, fails. He does though manage to get two. Kammy Koopa: "Oh my gosh! A deluded old Hag! She is the leader of the Magikoopa clan. An annoying magikoopa that rides a purplish broomstick. Lord Crump: Second in command of the X-Nauts. He battles Mario a handful of times throughout the game, but sees no wins. He is not what you might call, a good leader. Sir Grodus: The merciless leader of the X-Nauts. He cannot stand Mario and is infuriated by him at first. As time passes though, we see he isn't as dumb as he looks with his plans. However, he is tricked by the Shadow Sirens in the end. Shadow Queen: The spirit of the demon that brought down the city Rogueport now stands on 1,000 years ago. She needs a body to be reincarnated into. Doopliss: A doopleganger who for fun turns the villagers of Twilight Town into pigs. After failing at stealing Mario's identity, he runs away and joins up with the Shadow Sirens in Vivian's place. Shadow Sirens: Beldam, Marilyn, and Vivian are three shadows who help out the X-Nauts. There is major tension between Beldam and Vivian, who will eventually leave and join up with Mario after seeing his acts of kindness. Professor Frankly: The goomba who knows all. He helps you all throughout the game by deciphering the locations of the Crystal Stars on your map. The trash can in his house will contain tattles for one-time only enemies if you missed them. --- ================================================================================ ~~~~~~~~~~ +Partners+ ~~~~~~~~~~ PART The seven partners you can get all have their advantages. Seven, I said? Thats correct! The seventh is not recquired by the story. All four of their attacks are not available from the start. The first attack requires no FP, but the rest do, except in Goombella's case. You must located Shine Sprites and see Merlon in east Rogueport to upgrade them. I heard a rumor that if you make the name of the save file a color (it must be one of the seven though), thats what color the Yoshi is. However that is unverified. Once the Yoshi egg joins your party from atop the Hot Dog Stand, a clock starts. It's inside the egg though. There is a set amount of time for you to make it to the Iron Adonis Twins battle and lose. Afterwords the egg hatches once you come back inside and you can name the Yoshi what you wish. Its a rough guide, but this is how the time is set up: Green Yoshi + 6 minutes = Red Yoshi (0-6 minutes) Red Yoshi + 3 minutes = Blue Yoshi (6-9 minutes) Blue Yoshi + 2 minutes = Orange Yoshi (9-11 minutes) Orange Yoshi + 4 minutes = Pink Yoshi (11-15 minutes) Pink Yoshi + 3 minutes = Black Yoshi (15-18 minutes) Black Yoshi + 1 minute = White Yoshi (18-19 minutes) White Yoshi + 1 minute = Green Yoshi (19-20 minutes) Obviously wait a little bit after the time passes for the color, just in case. And if you miss the time period, it restarts after every 20 minutes. This works, I waited 32 minutes (missed the time by writing this guide, but it was worth it) and I still got an orange Yoshi. You can take this time table without asking, its fine. --- ================================================================================ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +Walkthrough+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WKTH *Prolouge* A Rogue's Welcome The game starts off with Parakarry (from the original Paper Mario) delivering mail to the Mario Bros. house. Luigi comes back inside with a letter from Peach: "Hello there, Mario! I am now on holiday, traveling in the Mushroom Kingdom In my travels, I came into possession of a mystical map... a treasure map, actually. It was inside a box I got from an old merchant in a town called Rogueport (just the name sets this up as a trap) But since it would be too difficult for me to try to go find treasure all by myself... I thought you could help me hunt for it! You will, of course, won't you? I've included the map with this letter, so please bring it with you when you come I'll meet you at Rogueport. (That means you MUST come!) -Peach." Already this smells fishy. Luigi hands it over and you get the first look at the map of this game. The following conversation with the boat captain is funny. The boat itself has America's colors on it inconspicously. Heh. Once you've taken control, head off the pier. You will see a multi-colored floating box with an "s" on it. This is a save block. This is the only way you can save. They are scattered throughout the game, and take note of where they are. Save, if you like. The bob-omb tells you this too. Walk further and you are dragged into a cutscene. You hear this music a lot throughout this game, just a heads up. Meet Goombella who is being harrased by Lord Crump. Behind him are two X-Nauts. You learn all about them and the Crystal Stars soon enough. Simply intervene now. You enter your first battle. Basically, your Health, Flower Points, Star Points, and coins are on the top of the screen, in that order. When its your turn, options come up over Mario's head. Your main attacks are hammer or jump. Pick whichever and let him have it. If you press A right before an enemy strikes you, you can safeguard it and take less damage. If you press B, you superguard, taking no pain and deal damage to the attacker in most cases. Once thats done head up the stairs and into the city itself. Goombella gives you the rundown. In the background you see two Yellow Pianta's (Super Mario Sunshine anyone?) of the local syndicate. You meet them down the road. None other than Toadsworth then comes in and you learn even more. I can just imagine his accent. Now you are at your first task: find Professor Frankly. Head east (to the right). A blue shy guy steals 50 coins from you. Relax we can get that back later. Go inside the second house (the first one has a Shine Sprite over it). Cutscene! You can practice action guards if you want. Go down the green pipe and save. Head right and you run into the trio of goombas. Make sure you try to tattle as many foes as you can to fill your tattle log. This isn't necessary however. Easily defeat them, head up the stairs. Go behind the wall and jump onto the moving platform and take it to the next green pipe. Keep taking the course and you run into more goombas of the sorts. At the bottom of the stairs is a "?" box- hammer it to get a Mushroom. The next one contains a Fire Flower. You will see two yellow boxes. Smash em with your hammer and go down the pipe. A little dude sees you and goes through the crack. Ignore that for now. Some Spinias are out lurking. Go right and hit the blue switch and go up the newly formed stairs into the room. Talk to the chest. You will run into a few of these guys throughout the game. Go back out. You could see the key from before its on a small raised platform. The ledge from up here juts out. Simply jump off the upper side of it to land on the platform with the key. Take it back and tah-dah! With this "curse" go back outside to the airplane panel and zoom off. This may take practice. Once you make it to the large block, go through the door. Your finally here! Go to the center of the room on the pedastol, the map does the rest. Destination: Petal Meadows. Your first badge! Power Smash. Frankly goes over all the procedures for equipping and using badges. Then, its back to the sewers! Head right and take the paper airplane thing to the far end and go through the door. Hit the tentacle and you meet the first Blooper. Get rid of both his tentacles and you can attack Blooper itself. He has 15HP. Afterwords, moving platforms give you access to a pipe. Don't fall in the water, it will hurt you! Go down the pipe and here we come Petal Meadows! Chapter 1: Castle and Dragon Say hello to Petal Meadows! Hit the trees behind you- the one on the right has a Mushroom, the one the left a Star Piece. Continue on the path and you see the first boss fly over head. The item box holds yet another Mushroom. Continue on. The red box (these always have a badge) has Close Call in it. Ignore the pipe and continue right. Dead end? I think not. Press A by the dark green bushes to reveal a pipe. You go into the backdrop. Hammer the switch and then you can cross the gap. Continue all the way back here for another Star Piece. Once across, shake the bushes on the top part to get a Mystery. In the item box is a Fire Flower. Continue on and welcome to Petalburg! The mayor lives in the pink house. Continue right and its the first house on the new screen. Go inisde. Afterwords, continue right and you get an email. These usually don't have very much info in them. Keep going. After the gate is opened you get your first encounter of Koops. He is really shy. Press on! The very first bush here contains a Star Piece. You also will find Koopa Troopas. Flip em on their back and they can't do anything. The item box has a POW Block. Go inside the Fortress and hit A near the pedastools. In this battle, use the POW Block you got to demolish them. Go through the newly opened gate. In the next area you encounter more enemies. You can't use a Fire Flower. What I did was I used B to give them damage back, which killed them after two turns. If you can't get it, Run Away and go back to the store in Petalburg and get some POW Blocks. After beat, go through the next gate. The item box contains a Fire Flower. Down at the bottom of the screen near that is an Inn Coupon. Right outside the next place is a box with a heart and number above it. The number is how many coins it costs. It restores your HP and FP. Restore it if needed. Once inside, save. Talk to the stone guy. These are always hilarious. I am not sure if these are always in the same order, so I put the question to go along with it. Question: What's hidden in the place? Answer: Stone Keys Question: What do one Mr. Softener and one Fire Flower cost at the shop in Petalburg total? Amswer: 16 coins (8 a pop) Question: What is the name of the Mayor of Petalburg? Answer: Kroop Question: Tell me, now! Where is the Crystal Star? Answer: Hooktail Castle Question: How can you get from Petal Meadows to Rogueport? Answer: Go through a pipe Go through the newly uncovered pipe. The Badge Box has Multibounce. Go right and you will run into a Fuzzy. They drain your HP and restore theirs. Easy to beat though. In the far room is the Sun Stone. A four Fuzzy fight ensues. Fire Flower can take em all out in one go. Continue back to where you came in and go the other way. Down in the other end is the Moon Stone. More Fuzzies. Head back to the entrance pipe room. Uh-oh! Easily attack this Golden fuzzy. When the huge crowd surround the character, simply hit A to defend the attack. Just aim for defeating the Gold Fuzzy. Leave and head back to Petalburg. Rest up at the Inn if needed. Don't bother using the Inn Coupon unless you don't have 5 coins. You can use that later on. Anyway, go back into the meadows and Koops crosses your path again. Oh boy. He joins your party. His X move actually comes in handy alot. Here comes the girlfriend, greeeeeeeat! Continue back through the Meadows. Remember that pipe I told you to ignore? Go in it to emerge up top. A badge sits across from you. Use Koops to get it. Happy Heart is now yours. This is a really good badge to equip. Go back another screen and place the keys in the respectful place. Now you have to hold Koops at one end, and go around to the otherside and release him to hit the switch. Simultaineously, hit the other switch with your hammer. Go through the pipe to the backdrop and over to the Castle. Go through to the outside to find out you can't cross. Back inside is a spring board. Use that to go up and acess an Aiplane ledge. Fly across. Once inside, watch out for Koopa Paratroopas! They can divebomb you. Head through the door on the right and you come across bones. Read the letter to find out Hooktail's weak spot is... crickets. The bones belong to none other than Kolorado's father. Poor guy. Kolorado is from the first Paper Mario, FYI. Talk to the red bones Koopa blocking the door. Then make your way back to him by using the hammer to fight him. This is a rather hard battle, so be decisive and try to get the Red Bones. In the next room is a Shine Sprite. Go up the stairs and jump off to the lower ledge. Hit the purple box. Then go back and cross the stone blocks to hammer the yellow box. Then go back and hit the yellow box. Then go where it stood and use Koops to hit the switch, changing the stairs. Go up them. Nab the key and change the stairs back. Now you can go through the door. Do so and save. Go through the door and hold Koops shell by the red switch. Then go over to the wall on the other side of the fence and release Koops to go into the cell. Go through the wall and look! Another black chest. What "curse" could we possibly get now? Go through the door and take note of the ground. Walk to the other side and get the key. Grab the key and take this route: _________________ | x x | D= Door | x xxxxxxx x | C= Chest |xxxx x x | X= Spike | xxxxx x | |xxxx x x xxx | D x x C x | |xx x x xxx x | | x x xxxxx | | x x xxx | | xxx xx xxxx | | x x | ----------------- This is the route out: +-------+ | | | +-+ | | ---+ | Key---+ | | | | | | | +-+ +-+ | | | +---+ Simple enough. Let him out and you can now turn "Paper Thin." Hold R to do so. Back in the previous room, use this mode to get out of the cell. Two down is a key badge- Attack FX-R. This adds the cricket noise to your hammer. Equip it now if you like, but make sure you do before the boss battle. It can get annoying. Go back through 3 rooms to the one with cells and Kolorado's dad's bones. Go into the cell with the bars only going vertical and get the key. Now we gotta go forward two rooms to the right. The one with the save block and small stairs. Use Koops to hit the green switch while one the giant green block to go up to stairs. At the top use the key on the door. Hit the switch and keep going. Use Koops at the next gap for the switch. Go through the open window. On the right side is a Star Piece. Then go left to the other open window. In the next room, go up the giant green block. Go left and then jump off the top part onto a ledge with a Life Shroom. Left door into a treasure room. This is where you first meet Ms. Mowz. How cute! Goombella gets jealous too. Anyway, in this room is a Shine Sprite, a castle key, a mushroom, and a Honey Syrup. Now go back across the ledge and to the new door. In the next room hit the yellow switch for the block to come down. Use Koops to activate it and go up. On the upper side of the rail is a Star Piece. Use the airplane panel to make it to the door. Go down the stairs and hit the yellow switch to make access to a key. Grab it. Go up all three sets of stairs and low and behold! A third Shine Sprite! You actually need these things in groups of three to use them. But for now go through the door. This final path leads to Hooktail's Lair. Be cautious of all of the enemies! MAKE SURE YOU EQUIP ATTACK FX-R! You need to in order to defeat him. Make sure Close Call, Power Smash, and Happy Heart are equipped too if you have enough Badge Points. ------ +Boss+ ------ Hooktail Difficulty: * Badges: Attack FX-R HP: 20 Attack: 5 Defense: 1 His size is intimidating, but he is a piece of cake. Use Power Smash on his foot, he gets woozy from the Cricket noise. Attack away with Koops too. Only use Goombella for a tattle, otherwise she can't do jack. Waist his health and he tries to plead. Always say no or he will take 5HP from you. Now you fight in the crowd area, he has half health. Pounce on him some more. Just keep using Power Smash until you can't. Just keep attacking and using the A safeguard move to decrease damage. --- Once dead, Koops father emerges with none other than the first Crystal Star! Now you can read the aftermath of the chapter. +====+ Peach +====+ Watch the cutscene and you learn quite a bit. Now you can actually play with Peach! Go through the door to your left and take a shower. This is just for laughs by the way. Go back and the door on the other side opens. Might as well see whats there. The next door opens. Meet Tec. He is the computer of this base. If you payed careful attention to the cutscene from before where the cameras cycled, you may know where we are at. But I won't spoil anything yet. You can say he "popped" one when his sensors saw Peach. Move over Mario! Peach sends a message and then leaves. Relax, this gets much weirder. +=====+ Bowser +=====+ Yep, Bowser too! After every chapter you go through this. You can get some humor from the guards. Kammy walks in then, oh god. This is actually quite funny. But Bowser finds out about the Crystal Stars and the kidnapping of Peach. Back to the Mario perspective now. +====+ Mario +====+ Your in Petalburg with Koops family. After, head up on the side of the mayor's house and grab Mega Rush P. Now go all the way back to Rogueport Sewers. Then just go to the Thousand Year Door room. To get a Shine Sprite, go through the bars where you walk in, spring board, and paper airplane to the other side. Spring board up to the shine. Then proceed to the middle of the room to find the next location of the Crystal Star, Boggly Woods as you are told. There are a couple of sidequests things we can do right now. Since we have found 3 Shine Sprite, go inside the house next to Frankly's. Note the Shine above the door. If you have only upgraded Mario's HP once, Goombella will actually have 5 more HP than Mario if you upgrade her. Anyway, talk to Luigi right outside to hear of his adventures. Then where the wall to the left of Merlon's house is, you can navigate behind it. Go back down the ally and jump onto the boxes. Move and jump around and you will get a Star Piece. Try to go into the West side of town and you unavoidable break her contact lenses. Go into the store and talk to the Toad to order the lenses. Go upstairs at the Inn and go outside the door and into the door from up there to be in Ms. Mowz' shop. get Close Call if you want. Back by Frankly's is a dude who won't let you through the small gate. You gotta either pay or fight. At this point we can fight our way through. Use Power Smash and Koops to drain his HP. Careful of his attack, it can add up fast. Now you have access to the east side and the Help Center, which is the second door. We will come back later for this. Or if you really want to you can start into them. Now to Boggly Wood. Go into the Sewers and start towards the Thousand Year Door Room (TYDR). When you make it to the room with the huge yellow block, stop and go through the bars and into the next room. Talk to Punio and then he will go over and open up the secret entrence. Go left first to get Damage Dodge. Then go right and into the pipe. Chapter 2: The Great Boggly Tree Head left and you will find the Shadow Sirens. In the first tree is a Sleepy Sheep. Keep heading right. Go to the tree and find out you can't get in. Seek out Madame Flurrie for help. Sounds easy. Go back and keep heading right from the pipe. You will find an Inn Coupon right around the pipe. Head right. Ignore the pipe and go to the wall. Near the bottom is a path. Take it and go hit the switch and get the Star Piece. Stand near the rear of the platform and use Koops to reach the Shine Sprite. Paper aiplane over and Quake Hammer is in the badge box. Keep heading right. In the first tree is another Star Piece. Keep going and go through the small gap. Go past the pipe for a Star Piece. Then go to Flurrie's house. Go up the door and hit A. Cutscene. Remember the Shadow Sirens? Time to fight them! Travel all the way back to them ------ +Boss+ ------ Mini battle! Shadow Sirens Difficulty: * Badges: Non required You are facing three opponents: Vivian, Marilyn, and Beldam. Take out Marilyn first. Goombella can cause four damage at once if you upgraded her. Then aim for Beldam. Finally take out Vivian. Pretty easy fight if you ask me. --- Grab the Necklace. Now we can get Flurrie to help! Take it back to her house. She has joined your party! Use her winds up on the tree where Punio went and the door is opened up! Once inside two X-Nauts attack you. Take em to the trash. Go up the pipe after the cutscene. Go up the pipe in this next room. Go up two more pipes and a cutscene ensues of an X-Naut. Ms. Mowz! Then you appear at the jail cells. Head through the door. Dispose of the X-Naut to get a key. In the chest is an Ultra Shroom. Go back and free the Elder, only to get lectured. Head back to the room with the free punies. Cutscene time, again. Now you have a small army of punies. Head back up a pipe and place the new Orb to make a pipe appear. You have to remove the orb once done though. Defeat the X-Nauts and then press A by the terminal next to the door to unlock it. Now you have to actually use Flurrie to blow the Punies off the ledge. They come back up in bubbles. Use Flurrie to blow them across. First jump down and on the other side is a Shine Sprite. There is also a Thunder Rage in one of the bushes. Go down the pipe then with the Punies Careful of the Piders, they scare away Punies, which you have to jump down and get. Use Flurrie to blow off the thing on the aiplane panel. Take it down to another one, which takes you to a Shine Sprite. Then simply go back up and bring the punies down and take the down pipe in the opposite corner. See the weird looking fly? Follow it into the room. Its go time! Watch them duke it out. Go inside and take the key from the chest. Now you can free the rest of the punies. Now head all the way back to the prison cells. Now head back to the area right before the base thing, the path swerves. Piders will drop down and scare the Punies away, so deal with them. Down below is a Star Piece in one of the bushes. Also on the left wall is a hidden shop. Flurrie can get you into it. Anyway, back past both Piders is a badge box. Use Koops on the far side of it to open up a box under it. Damage Dodge P is inside. Continue on. This is a pretty good fight. Once won, go through. Keep going until you come to a room with an x on the floor and a Puni Orb station. Put it in and you get caught. Paper thing out and go down the pipe. Hit the black switch and take note of the order of columns: Sun, Moon, Punie, Star. We saw that before. Go back to that. Its on the other side of the bubble pond room. Leave this area and go back to the previous hive area. Once inside (this was the one with the 10 units), hit the switched into the following order: Sun, Moon, Puni, Star. Spin Jump is really useful. For starters, break through the x thing and jump one over left. Koops can wheel in Charge badge. Then head over the Shine Sprite via the blocks. Shine #7! Now we can go free the Punies. Once back in the cell, spin jump. Then use the Puni Orb so they are easy to blow into the exit. Then take the pipe up and head back a room and up the pipe. There is another orb and spin jump board. Use the Puni Orb and break the board and blow the Punies down. Then go through the pipe down below. Take another pipe, and then another. Take three pipes down to a room below the water. Jump across and go up and stand on the blue switch, and send Koops out and hold him. Then back off the switch and let Koops go to drain the water. Go down into the newly drained area for a chest with Shrink Stomp. Go back to the punies then. Jump out to the Shine Sprite, the fourth and last one thats here. Then travel down the pipe, and place the Orb in. That save block couldn't be in a better place. Door on the right. Uh-oh, whats Lord Crump up to? Orb once more... Crystal Star! That was easy- what? 5 minutes to escape. Go up the pipe and fight two X-Nauts fast. Then unlock the door and go up the pipe. Familiar? Go through the up pipe. Do the same at the next pipe, and again for a third time. Place the Orb in and blow them across, go through the door and save. Boss battle time! The clock stops for this, finally. ------ +Boss+ ------ Magnus Von Grapple Difficulty: ** Badges: none required HP: 30 Attack: 2 Defense: 1 Intimidating looking also, most bosses are like that. He can stomp on you or shoot off his arms which can rocket punch you. The fists HP is 2, attack 4, and no defense. ALWAYS take them out first. Finally, he might stomp and hurt both people. If you upgraded Goombella it really comes in handy for the fists. If not, just use Multibounce. Use jump attacks, they cause 2 damage as opposed to the hammer's 1. Keep working your way down and make sure you take out the fists if he shoots them off. It won't take that long, but you will kill him eventually. Peach time! --- +====+ Peach +====+ To get the door open, walk to it and back. Then go to TEC. Whats in store for us this time? This may very well be the weirdest thing you do. It gets weird later, but this may top it off as worst. Basically you have to press the buttons that appear on screen in order to nail the correct moves. Who knew ball dancing in a 2-D video game could be so involved? Its only A, B, and X that you press. Its not that hard. After a while you stop. And that is all you have to do! +=====+ Bowser +=====+ Just go straight. Break the non-brick boxes for meat which increases size. Snack on two and you become huge and invincible and destroy everything, including the flag. This next cutscene is pretty funny. It gets even better later too. Back to Boggly Woods now. +====+ Mario +====+ Say goodbye to your punie little friends (I feel like the guy from Animal Crossing now). Now we have to go back to the Rogueport Sewers. Perfect place for the pipe. Go back through the wall and out into the room. The wall that the stairs are on, use Flurrie to blow it off to get Happy heart P. TYDR time! The next Crystal Star is in the floating city of Glitzville. This is by far my favorite part of the game. You can talk to Luigi if you want, and more jobs have been posted in the Trouble Center. You can also upgrade Koops or Flurrie. It doesn't really matter. Otherwise head towards the western side of town. A toad should be standing outside the shop to tell you the lenses are in. Buy em for 10 coins and give them to the enraged toaddette. I still laugh at the fact how a Pianta, of all types, Syndicate reigns in this area. Its very nice and well kept. Talk to some of the guys in the area and they tell you go to Ishnail to find out how. Ishnail is head of the Robbos on the east side. Go there. After the first building is a small opening, just large enough for paper thin mode. Head on back. Go inside the door and talk to the guy. Its going to cost for him to tell you though. 64 coins. You have to buy a Dried Shroom and then a Dizzy Dial from the westside store. Then you have to tell the shopkeeper your favorite color is yellow. That for 64 coins? Whatever. Head on over and buy the Dried Shrrom and Dizzy Dial and say yellow. Talk to Don Pianta and ge makes a deal with you- find his daughter Fransesca and her "friend" Frankie. Simply go to Rogueport Harbor to find them. Go back and tell him and they interrupt. After the rant is done, talk to Don to get the blimp tickets. Now head back outside and travel north. Nice lookin' train! However we don't go there. Head right and show the fish thing your ticket. Behind the pipe is a Star Piece. Then off into Glitzville! Chapter 3: Of Glitz and Glory Nice place. On the right side is a huge blue switchg. Get on top and spin jump onto it to reveal stairs leading up to a chest with Power Plus P. On the side of the same shop heading north is an Inn Coupon. See the Shine Sprite? Hit Koops into it to reveal a hidden block. Then grab it. Then start towards the arena building. On the right side above the plants is a Star Piece. Go inside. Go into the double doors and its a cutscene. Then head over onto the left side and talk to the guard. You can now go back behind the scenes. Head down the hall and take the turn. Its the first door. You get to see the nice rooms. Wait until you see the Minor League locker room. Jolene explains everything. Basically go to the GBA faced terminal when you want to fight. There is a bed here, lockers, and some fighters. That will be covered later. For each fight, you must abide what Grubba tells you. For this fight, its Appeal at least once. Make sure you do that. Wait a little and then Security comes and gets you. Rank #19: Goomba Bros! # of opp: 5 Fight Money: 3 Description: Appeal first your partner then use Multibounce to easily take them out in one go. Thats the fastest way. You can also take each out, but make sure you appeal! King K introduces himself, he's pretty cool. You meet the others. You can't do much so next fight time! These are mostly one-time fights, so if your going for the Tattle Log, make sure you use Goombella!! Rank #18: KP Koopas! # of opp: 3 Fight Money: 4 Description: Two KP Koopas and a KP Paratroopa. Handle them like a normal koopa battle- jump on them to throw em on their back and then go in for the K.O.. Abide what Grubba told you. Rest up and go into the next battle. Rank #17: Pokey Triplets! # of opp: 3 Fight Money: 4 Description: Koops is the only one who will work here. Jump attacks don't work so hammer away and use Koops attacks to deliver damage. Easy fight, once again. Afterward Jolen brings in a fighter and scolds him. Go into the next fight. Rank # 16: The Dead Bones! # of opp: 3 Fight Money: 5 Description: Even easier, its simply 3 Dull Bones. Can we get some competition? Someone is taken out to the hospital and King K tells you have brutal the sport is. Next fight! Rank # 15: Spike Storm! # of opp: 3 Fight Money: 5 Description: The Spinys are pretty tough. Since you can't jump on spiky enemies, either use a POW Block, Power Smash, or superguard their attacks with B. The Lakitu will hold up a Spiny, making you unable to attack him for the time being. He also has a little bit more health, so it will take a bit, especially when holding a Spiny. Now it starts to go somewhere: King K tells you about a new item on the Hot Dog Stand's Menu. Lets go check it out. Its an egg! Watch its pattern and wait for it. When it jumps by jump. If you got it, he will go up onto the roof of the Stand. Remember those stairs you discovered before? Go over to the Juice Shop and hit the blue switch if you haven't already. Then go up and springboard up onto an airplane panel. Then airplane on over. It may take a while. Try hitting A to exit the mode right over the stall to land on it. It joins your party. Now in order to decide what color he is, depends on how fast you get to the Iron Adonis Twins battle. After they cream you, the egg hatches. Here is a good guide I found: Green Yoshi + 6 minutes = Red Yoshi (0-6 mins) Red Yoshi + 3 minutes = Blue Yoshi (6-9 mins) Blue Yoshi + 2 minutes = Orange Yoshi (9-11 mins) Orange Yoshi + 4 minutes = Pink Yoshi (11-15 mins) Pink Yoshi + 3 minutes = Black Yoshi (15-18 mins) Black Yoshi + 1 minute = White Yoshi (18-19 mins) White Yoshi + 1 minute = Green Yoshi (19-20 mins) This is a very hard thing to plan. If you don't care just go with it how you normally would. Once you reach 20 minutes, the cycle restarts itself. Anyway, go back inside and fight. Rank # 14: The Hand-It-Overs! # of opp: 4 Fight Money: 6 Description: Two bandits and two Big Bandits. The red ones steal coins, green ones items. If they nab something (use A to prevent it), they will run next turn. Defeat them in any order, and try to do it fast if you care about your stuff. Go into next fight. Rank # 13: The Mind Bogglers! # of opp: 3 Fight Money: 6 Description: Three enemies you saw last chapter. Easily defeat them with the appropriate attacks. Next fight time. Rank # 12: The Punk Rocks! # of opp: 3 Fight Money: 7 Description: This is a hard fight with three clefts. They can charge their attack up, which raises it to 8. Thats astronomical at this part. POW Blocks work really good here. If those aren't an option, work away with Power Smash and try to live. King K has gone missing! He was cool! Ah, cant do anything about it now, so fight. Rank # 11: The Bom-Omb Squad! # of opp: 4 Fight Money: 7 Description: Four bom-ombs. They can be a pain, especially if you attack them, they charge up and next attack will blow up on you, causing five damage. Goombella's Multibonk works wonders here. Jolen comes in with a new fighter. Blah blah blah. The run down you got before. Poor guy. Anyway, continue on to the next fight after they leave. Time to challenge for the Major League! The trash talk goes crazy before the fight. Either let them hand it to ya or run away because their is no way you can win right now. After you get Yoshi and name him, challenge them again and use Yoshi's Gulp to beat them. Rank # 10: The Armored Harriors! # of opp: 2 Fight Money:7 Description: The first fight you must lose. Second time around, have Yoshi use Gukp attack to beat them. Its really that simple, its just you have to come back in order to do so. I heard a rumor if you get the badge Piercing Blow from Ms. Mowz' store in Rogueport you can beat them the first time with that. That is unverified though. Welcome to the Major League, Ricky Vaughn! After you resume control, you get the first of a string of emails from a mysterious X. Anyway, an Ice Storm is sitting on the right wall right above the lockers. Go to the next fight. Rank # 9: The Poker Faces! # of opp: 2 Fight Money: 11 Description: Two Bristles. Use a POW Block or Earth Tremor or another item of the sorts. You haven't had a chance to get Hammer Throw yet, so you can't do anything hammer wise or jump wise. Nothing to do, so fight time. Rank # 8: The Tiny spinies! # of opp: 2 Fight Money: 12 Description: Believe me after next chapter fights like these will be a joke. But for now a POW Block is your best best. If you havent caught the drift, always have those on you. They really help. Unless you superguard with B, you really can't do much to them. But you can still beat them with the right moves/items. Earth Tremor also will do the trick in one go. X has contacted you. Watering hole, eh? Go to the Juice Shop and talk to the guy cleaning the glass. Super Hammer! You can now break huge yellow boxes! Remember the one in the Minor League locker room? Crap! We can't go in there, oh well. Then you get another email, saying to go to that! I spoke too soon. Go there, talk to the Iron Ardonis Twins for a laugh. Then go break the block. Time for the Yoshi to shine! Jump up on the computer table and onto the bookshelf. Then fly across on Yoshi and grab the Duious Paper. Sounds fun! Go back outside and Jolene confiscates the papers. Drat. Go back and do the next fight. Rank # 7: The Fuzz! # of opp: 3 Fight Money: 12 Description: The three breeds of fuzzies: regular, green, and flower. Take out the regular one first, then the green. This guy can multiply. The Flower Fuzzy, much like its name, steals flower points. It builds it up then does an attack. Regular attacks work fine on these guys. Maybe use a stronger attack like Spin Jump or Power Smash on the green one so he can't multiply. Here come the Iron Adonis Twins! Defeat em! Even if you don't it doesn't affect anything, other than their pride. Then you get another email. Its a threat this time, but not from X. Hmmm... next fight. Rank # 6: The Shellshockers! # of opp: 3 Fight Money: 13 Description: These guys are pretty tough. DO NOT FLIP THEM if you can't kill them the same turn. They have a devestating attack that they perform if flipped. If you can't kill it the same turn, hammer attacks work pretty nicely, their defense is only 1. Kick em to the curb. Cake was left by a fan. You can eat it and it recovers your HP and FP. Thats all for this go, so its fightin time, again. Rank # 5: The Magikoopa Masters! # of opp: 3 Fight Money: 13 Description: Take out the Magikoopa in white first, she restores HP. Then take out red one, and finally green one, who just happens to be on a broom stick. Regular attacks are a good solution for this. Bowser shows up? Uh... Beat him for Star Points. It doesn't matter if you lose though. He has 30 HP, so treat it like a normal mini boss fight. Rank # 4: Craw Daddy! # of opp: 1 Fight Money: 14 Description: This can be a really hard fight. His attack is 6 and his spear outrules jump attacks. Then if you have to avoid using your hammer... I ended up using Koops to beat him entirely. If not, hammer attacks and Koops can easily put him away. If you grow desperate, any item or Earth Tremor can be a gem here. X wants you to go to the phone booth. Go outside and its south of the shop. Its a key! I wonder where too... Ah. X tells you to go to the storage room next to Grubba's office. Go there and inside is none other than Ms. Mowz! Pull out Flurrie and blow at the crates on the right wall. Behind them is Charge P. Then do the same to the other side and in the corner is a switch. Hitting it drops dpwm stairs. Climb them. Shine Sprite! Then head left and jump onto the crate and fly across with Yoshi and break the block. You will see a badge, go back onto the line of crates and cross with Yoshi for HP Plus P. Then drop into the hole. Hit A near the small white gap where you will see text boxes and drop some eaves. Woah. Go to the opening and use Paper Thing to drop below. Then go back and its time for a fight. Rank # 3: Hamma, Bamma, and Flare! # of opp: 3 Fight Money: 14 Description: The three Hammers Bros. This is really long and grueling if only your partner can attack. If so Yoshi's Gulp works great and so does Koop's Power Shell. Otherwise hammer away with hammer attacks. If you can try to take out the Boomerang Bro first, his attack strikes you twice. Then the Fire Bro, he can set you on fire. Finally the Hammer Bro. When they start getting low on HP their attacks get fiercer, so be cautious. Another email. From a new person this time, threatening about the Crystal Stars. If you have figured it out, you know who this is from. Jolene drops off some cake: Don't eat it, its poisoned and your partner will not be able to fight in this next crucial battle. Rank # 2: Chomp Country! # of opp: 2 Fight Money: 15 Description: Two Red Chain Chomps. Yoshi's gulp does wonders here. Hammer attacks work really well too. Avoid jumping, their defense is too high for it to do any damage. Try to superguard the attacks too, the damage can add up quickly. Shady Koopa down! It was the cake that was brought in. Time to fight for the number 1 seed! Rank # 1: The Koopinator! # of opp: 1 Fight Money: 15 Description: Avoid jumping attacks. If your stripped of FP, you have to hammer away with the hammer and use Koops. If you can safegaurd with B, that works great too, especially if you get him when he is charged. When he gets down into his shell, it will hurt both partners, so be warned. X tells you to get rid of the posters in the lobby, so lets go. Get out Flurrie and go up the stairs. Behind the poster on the right is a key. Head back to the Storage Room and head back on upstairs there and open the door on the right. Go up onto the crate and cross with Yoshi. Another giant yellow block. Break it. Woah!!! Bandy Andy and King K! King K is unresponsive and Andy warns you to stay away from the ring when no one is around. Then Jolene is at the door. Weird! Challenge Rawk Hawk now. Somethings fishy... It flashes to Rawk Hawk entering. Back to you then, and the doors locker. Then its back to the arena and you find out your gonna forfiet if you don't show! Go to the right wall... Peach? Get rid of the poster with Flurrie. Head inside and go through the locker into the other Major League Room. Head straight across into the bathroom and take the toilet... like a green pipe? This is one weird chapter. Now your in the usual locker room. Head on out. This is a great chance to save, in case Rawk gets you. Then go into the arena. *Title Match* Opponent: Rawk Hawk Challange: Great Gonzales Fight Money: 20 Description: Without a doubt the greatest music in the game. Give it all you got! Power Smash and Multibonk are really good moves. Keep lowering his HP. His attacks are hitting both partners, jumping up, and then doing an aireal attack at one of you. Finally, he jumps up and shakes a rafter causing stuff to fall on you. This battle really isn't anything to sneeze at. Beat him and the Championship is yours! Afterwords, you are set up in the Champs room. X tells you to find the "ghosts" in the room. Rest up first. Then go to the corner and jump up onto the present like boxes and fly across to the vent with Yoshi. Use the hammer move on the vent and go in. Whats this disappear talk we keep hearing about? Go into Grubba's office. Look in the desk drawers. In one side is a Star Piece, the other papers about the Crystal Star. Grubba comes in... after him! Not yet though. Go into the hall and hang a left. Keep going to the crate near the doors into the arena. Jump inside for Last Stand. Equip it, you may need it next. Then head all the way back to the other side and into the arena. Walk on up and all is revealed. Once again, he is intimidating also. Its a reoccuring theme for bosses. ------ +Boss+ ------ Macho Grubba Difficulty: *** HP: 60 Attack: 4 Defense: 0 The only hard thing is the HP, really. Aside his basic attacks, he do this move which gives him more oppertunity to attack- i.e. attacking twice in a turn. He ups his attack and defense, which can be very dangerous. Hit away with Power Smash. If the defensive upgrade isn't in effect, Yoshi's ground pound can help a lot here. Keep hitting away and try to guarding with A or B for his attacks, you will need it. Keep hammering away with simple attacks. Be careful with Yoshi and the partners who have 10 HP if your using them, they can do down like that. If you need to, Earth Tremor, as always, works well here. --- Jolene comes in. This is really good music too. Sad, but good. Anyway, she explains everything. She was X, her brother was Prince Mush and so on. To Peach. +====+ Peach +====+ This is where it starts to get interesting. Head to TEC. Then, head back out and into the elevator and up a floor. Wait for the soldier, then head right and into the first room with a green light above it. In the third locker from the wall is a uniform. Grab it and go into a shower and change. How she manages to fit into that small uniform I have no idea. Head back into the hallway and head right and go in and talk to Grodus. Your automatically are back in the room where you changed. Simply go back to the shower and she will get back into her dress. Go to the door and your taken back to TEC. To Bowser. +=====+ Bowser +=====+ "Did you say something, Your Rudeness?" Gotta love Kammy Koopa. Anyway, head towards the door that lead to the bubbly room. You will see a puni behind the bush. Hit A by it and the Puni Elder scolds you off. Marty-O already came by though trying to save Princess Pinch. Almost every place someone gets his name wrong. To Mario. +====+ Mario +====+ Head on to where the blimp is overhead (giant star on the ground plus its shadow) and talk to the fish guy. Back into Rogueport. You can talk to Luigi on the way if you want. Head into the flower/fountain area. Behind the high pipe is a Star Piece. Once on the east side, you can stop in and upgrade a partner. Pick whomever at this point. However, after you go down the next pipe, head through the door instead of going down the second pipe (into the room with the airplane panel that you use to get to the TYDR). In this room you see a giant yellow block- smash it. Take the platform up, nab the Shine, and jump onto either blue switch and Spin Jump each to reveal a pipe. These lead to previous places- the one on the left to right outside the Great Tree, and the one on the right to Petalburg. In the room with the airplane panel, break the giant yellow block. Theres a Star Piece that is now in sight, and a springboard. Easier access. The pipe we seek is under the West side of town. Remember the sewer there in the middle? Paper thin over it to drop down. You land on a platform. Whatever you do, don't fall off. Use Yoshi and fly over to the left. If you fall, simply head over to the pipe going up, which takes you back up top, and head back into the sewers. The Spanias roaming pose no threat whatsoever. Anyway, nab the Shine Sprite. Now we can upgrade the 4th partner! Go through the door, and into the pipe. Whaaaaat? You get rejected. Go back to Frankly, stopping in at Merlon's before for the upgrade. Gotta find Darkly. On the left side of Merlon's house is a wall extending to the center part of town. The middle of the wall is pushed back. You can get through. The dull-color one is Darkly. He writes your name on your ass for you. Head back to the West side and then down into the sewers to the pipe. Chapter 4: For Pigs The Bell Tolls Odd name, right? You'll see soon enough. Dour, the mayor, explains everything. Creepy. Anyway, head right. As you pass the shop, you see a text. Go on inside and see whats all the hubbub. Then keep heading right to the gate. Gotta go talk to the mayor. Uh-oh, the bell rang. It was the mayor. Leave his house and go back to the gate. It rang again, and fortunately the gate guard was turned. Head on through the gate. Head inside the hut for a black key. Then head right. There are hyper Goombas- if confronted take care of them fast. Keep heading right into the next area and use Koops to grab the Storage Room Key. Travel on back to the shop now. In the chest is Defend Plus. Also there are the always helpful Life Shroom, Boo's Sheet and a Jammin' Jelly. Curse chest then. Now go back to the downed tree and roll under it. Pull Flurrie out and get rid of the hay and go into the pipe. Head left into the trees. This is the Twilight Trail. Be wary of Crazee Dazies. They not only are fast, but can put you to sleep. Anyway, head left. You run into a brick block- hit it to nab some coins. Head back a bit and look for a small path. Paper Thin through it, and on the right is an item box with an Earth Quake inside. Then travel left. In the next area, a badge box is hiding. In it is Hammer Throw. At the tree, use Flurrie to open a path. Head into the trees then. At the next area, the path opens up a little with a grey spot in the center. Use Flurrie to reveal a Spin Jump board. Break through and then in the backdrop go right to a rock and push it. Now we can get by the one on the path. There is a Hyper Cleft hiding in the vicinity, so watch out. There is a Shine Sprite right after the Cleft. Its hidden by the tree completely. Jump around to grab it. Head into the next area and you are finally at Creepy Steeple. The gate is locked- head along the wall right to an opening which you can roll under. Then press A behind the gate to remove the chain. Then head into the Steeple itself. -ATOMIC BOO- This paragraphs covers a small part of this game that yields you a tattle, a couple of badges, an Ultra Shroom, and an optional boss. Inside, head straight to a monument of the Crytsal Star. Push it back and you drop down into a hall. Use Flurrie on the back wall to reveal a path. At the other end is Flower Saver. Then, go back through and into the door. Open the box. Boos! The answer is 200- you get an Ultra Shroom. If you go back into the main room, talk to the Boo and promise to be kind. They all swarm around you. Hold B and wind up the Super Hammer. As they cling to you, let go. If nothing else happens, repeat. Don't let too many cling or your thrown outside. Once you get rid of enough, a cutscene enables. THIS IS AN OPTIONAL BOSS ------ +Boss+ ------ Atomic Boo Difficulty: * HP: 40 Attack: 4 Defense: 0 This is a very simplistic battle. My suggestion is coming back later in the game when you have stronger moves and partners. Whail on him, probably using Goombella or Yoshi to help. He really is not very hard. Beat him and Lucky Start is your treasure. --- Head through the door on the bottom of the screen. Watch out for Swoopers. At the end of this is a red switch/ Hit it and go through the door and up the stairs (should be right near the door). Go up and over, crossing a gap with Yoshi, to get a key. Now head back and out through the door on the top of the screen. Hit the red switch twice, and go back to the stairs room (they should now be closest to the top of the screen) and head up. Cross over, save, and unlock the door. Head on up and springboard. ------ +Boss+ ------ ?????? Difficulty: * HP: 40 Attack: 4 Defense: 0 Easily hammer away and use your partner's attacks too. After a while he turns into a purple Mario. He is insanely easy to beat. Keep whaling on him and he will fall. Crystal Star! Wow that was a fast chapter! Wait a second... it shows Mario leaving... press A to stand up. What happened??? Head back down through and leave the place. We have to go back to Twilight Town now. This gets very tedious. When you come out of the trail, you will see a Star Piece on the top part of the screen near the downed tree. Then you are confronted by "Mario." When guessing his name, note the letter P is missing. How peculiar! All you can do in the fight is run away. Back in town, everyone is normal. Go to the other part and help Vivian. What your looking for is in the grass to the far left. Theres a Star Piece in one of the bottom grasses near the tree. Then hand Vivian the bomb. She joins you! Head over into the other area and hide by the tree behind the fence. There is a village sitting by it. You have to get under Creepy Steeple now. Behind the tree on the other side of a fence is a Star Piece. Now we must go back to Creepy Steeple. Run away from the "Mario" fight. Instead of going inside the steeple, go down the pipe outside the gate. In the bottom corner there is the next Shine Sprite. Head right then. Use Veil to get past all the guys. In the Badge Box is Tornado Jump. Run into the wall on the right and push it up a little, then use Veil to let it pass over you. Head through the door... another Shine sprite!! Save, then roll into the small path on the right. Spin Jump and you land outside of the room from before. Go right and hug the wall for a Star Piece. Then on the left roll under the wall into a room with a bird. Veil by it and listen. Doopliss? eh? In the one chest is Power Plus. In the other chest is a Mr. Softner. In the fancy chests are the Letter P, and the key to the door to get out. Leave, and now we must go ALL the way back to where he will ambush you and guess his name. He runs. Greeeeat! Now, you have to go all the way back to Creepy Steeple... again. Go inside and into the door on the top of the screen. At the end hit the red switch and go into the stairs room and up. Head back to where we first fought him and time to fight "Mario" and your partners. ------ +Boss+ ------ Doopliss, Mario form Difficulty: * HP: 40 Attack: 2-4 Defense- 0 This is really simple. Its your attack used against you. His first partner is Goombella. If you defeat her, its on to Koops, then Flurrie, and finally the Yoshi. Ignore them. Vivian is gone for the time being. Thats OK. Ignore Goombella, just supergaurd her headbonk. Power Smash, as always, works great here. Simply drain his HP. Vivian comes in after two rounds or so. Now you can lay down even more damage. --- Beat him and you get not only your identity back, but Vivian really joins your party, and you get the fourth Crystal Star. Art Attack is a really helpful move, almost as much as Earth Tremor. To Peach. +====+ Peach +====+ A quiz. Nice change of face. Question: What will happen if you collect seven Crystal Stars? Answer: Thousand-Year Door opens Question: What is the goal of Grodus, leader of X-Nauts? Answer: To conquer the world Question: What is the legendary treasure that waits behind the Thousand Year Door? Answer: A 1,000 year old demon's soul Question: What does Sir Grodus wish to do with this ancient demon's soul? Answer: Bring the demon back to life Question: What is required to seal up the demons spirit? Answer: Crystal Stars This basically is his way of warning you. To Bowswer. +=====+ Bowser +=====+ "And a deluded old hag!" Gotta love those. Simply head forward, pressing A to swim. If you get invincible, nothing stops you. Then go up the bricks and to the flag. Cutscene time! "Your sogginess." Hehe. To Mario. +====+ Mario +====+ Take the pipe back. Now that you have Vivian, we can do some sidequest stuff. From the east side, head into the sewers. Go the normal way you would to the TYDR. However, in the room with the stairs, there is a cell with a door behind it. Go into the room behind. Spikes, on a timer. Use Vivian and advance through the simple maze. Veil at the right times to avoid the spikes. In the chest at the end is probably one of the most useful badges- Spike Shield. You can now jump on enemies with spikes on their heads. Its 3BP, but I say its worth it. For another Shine Sprite, head into the west side. Go into the first house and roll into a tube at the top of the stairs. You can roll through the right wall. After, to get out, roll in through the slot into the second house. There is one more thing we can do, but it actually is on the path to what you have to do. Head to the TYDR. Keelhaul Key is our next destination. For now, go down to the docks and snoop around. Well now we know the island is cursed by a pirate king named Cortez. The ship docked, belonging to Flavio, is your transportation there. Go to Podleys place (first floor of the Inn). Talk to the guy on the far right all caught up over a stone. Back at the harbor, jump onto the ship and talk to Flavio. We seek out Admiral Bobbery. His house is on the east side. You cannot get in from the outside. Over on the east side is a bridge. You can cross the gap with Yoshi just below the bridge. On the other side climb the boxes to the roof. Fly on over to the other roof. A Shine Sprite lurks on a roof behind you. Carefully jump over to the red roof its on and then climb up and grab it. Our whole reason being up here is the chimney- you can roll down into it. Once inside, go into the back room and nab another Shine Sprite. Talk to him... he won't come. Go back and talk to Podley (the bartender in Podleys). Now that we have the letter, go back to Bobbery's house, through the chimney once more. The music that plays is good, but sad, I liked it. He's in. Go back to the ship, making sure you save, and talk to Flavio. Time to set sail! An X-Naut reveals one of theres is on board- its blatently obvious. Chapter 5: The Key to Pirates Nothing ever goes according to plan. Through Flavio's journal, its established that they set up shop on the island. Pa-Patch comes and gets you. Head up and left and over an area. The "ghosts" show up then, and you get to fight em off. Koops at this point is the only one who can damage them other than your hammer attack. Its a hard fight at this point. Keep it up, and try to safeguard the fire attacks with A. Bottom the screen in the water is a Star Piece. Rest up, if needed, then head into the jungle (right). In the first set of bushes is another Star Piece. A Badge box up top contains Head Rattle. In a hidden item box almost right below it at the bottom of the screen is a Courage Shell. Keep going. In the next area is a lot of items. First off in a lone bush is a Mini Mr. Mini. There is an item box hugging the wall. Hit it for a coin, then jump onto it and jump, revealing another coin filled box. Then, brush along the bottom of the screen for a Star Piece. Then climb up the cliff and fly over with Yoshi. There is a Shine Sprite lingering off the cliff, Yoshi allows access. Then in an items box is Thunder Rage. Hey! Its the missing crew! After a cutscene, and then a treat from one of the pirates, head back to the bridge area. By the bushes is an Inn Coupon. Cross the bridge and a Shine Sprite is sheltered by some trees. Then, an insanely helpful badge is under the bridge. Paper thin down to Ice Power. Make sure you at least have it equipped for this chapter. Now head back to the camp. Deja Vu! We have to go all the way back now. At least it isn't as long as the previous place. Anyway, go an area past the bridge and hammer an ember. After, hammer on the tree. Bobbery! Needs Chuckola Cola. On the way back to camp, drop down on the opposite side of the bridge, towards the left. Theres a small land. Fly from that to a pipe, and in the background hammer the tree for a coconut. Back at the camp talk to Flavio. Give him the coconut and head all the way back to Bobbery. He fell asleep, heh. Hammer him. He joins your party. In one of the bushes on your right is a Spite Pouch. We have to go back and get Flavio. Do so, then come all the way back and go to the skull rocks. Examine them with A, then go talk to Flavio. Place the skull gem in and the two weird rocks light up. The tune Flavio sings tells you what to do- jump thrice on the red stache's head, hammer four times to the blue stache's body. Do this, and a ledge drops down. Throw Bobbery in there to open up the cave. In the bottom corner is a Ruin Powder. Save and delve into the Pirate's Grotto! Drop down two ledges and go into the next room. On the boat at the top is a Shine Sprite. Then head down and nab a Star Piece. Use Veil to get through the spikes, and go into the next room. Bullet Bills pass you... keep going and attack the Bill Blasters. Defeat them and keep going. In the next room, carefully jump from the bridge. Then fly across with Yoshi. Breeze past the Bulky Bob-omb and continue into the next room. Fight the ember if you wish, then climb up the cliff. Use Koops towards at the Shine Sprite, then hammer it to get it. Throw Bobbery up at the blue switch and go in. Cross this room and go into the door on the other side. This next part is a little tricky. Jump out onto the box and hit the red switch. The platform should lower. Then raise back up on its own. Hit it again so it comes down far enough to the ground. Then, try to time it so Koops can hit the red switch while you go run over to the platform. Then simply jump and go get the key. For a Shine Sprite, hold Koops shell once the platform is touching the ground, run over and jump on. Then, let go of Koops shell and as your going up, jump to your left onto the crate. Wait for it to go back up and a Shine is waiting up top. Now head back to the room we got the Shine in and open the door. Once through, watch out for the Parabuzzies! Go through the door at the bottom. Use Koops to get the Shine Sprite on your right. Then roll into a tube and go under the spikes. Be careful of two parts that can get you when out. Go into the next room. Use Koops to reveal a box under this Shine Sprite, and then jump to get it. Jump across, it can get tricky with the barrels so take your time. In the next room are more Bill Blasters, two sets of. Blast through both and go on through the door. In this room, you have to jump off the ledge down onto an odd looking platform. Then go into the ship. Behind the chest is P Down, D Up. Then the ember with the key appears. Beat him and get the final "curse." You do this to get out of this room. Its simple. Now backtrack a while to the room with the save block (you unlocked the door in this room). Go up and into the room and onto the boat panel and down the waterfall. Manuever to the right side and through the opening. Travel another room into one with a panel. Nab the Gate Handle and jump down onto the land and walk back to the room where you fly across on Yoshi, do so and then put the handle back in place. Head to the right and go up and back down the waterfall and then into the new area. Head right into through the wall. This is where it gets tough. Waves. You can't get hit by one or you start back at the beginning where the waves end. Manuever on through em. Stick to the very bottom of the screen- you shouldn't have too many problems with it. In this next room you see a ton of trapped sailors. Travel by them onto the panel and go into the backdrop. Jump onto the boat when its rear is down, and jump off when its front is raised. Run across to the far left and up and out the pipe. Use the airplane panel to fly out to a green pipe. Then hit the blue switch in the back drop, and go back for the other pipe, allowing the toads to escape... and Frankie and Fransesca! Now you have to go back to the airplane panel and fly over. Then go into the room... Cortez' ship! Use the recover box, save, and go inside. ------ +Boss+ ------ Cortez Difficulty: ** HP: 20 Attack: 4 Defense: 1 Stats wise, he's a breeze. In this stage, simply attack him. Don't waste very much FP though. Vivian works good, she can set him on fire. His attacks are either rearing back and hitting you with all weapons at once for 4HP, or using all four of his swords each taking 2HP. Beat him, and its into stage 2. In this stage, he is upright. Attack the bone pile with the hammer, it pumps out an extra attack point instead of jumping. He will charge and then attack, so timing is crucial. Stage 3 is the hardest- its Cortez' head and four weapons. Items that attack all enemies work great for destroying the weapons, which fall and go unused for a couple of turns. Their HP is 4. Earth Tremor is a good way to go about. I still used Vivian for this, her Shade Fist works pretty well. When his HP gets low, he eats up half the audience! Ugh. Repeat the process. Earth Tremor will still work great. Atfer this he finally goes down. --- After, jump back and then fly across and leave the room. Go up to the wall and Bobbery it. Head on out, then up and left. Hit the creature and grab the Whacka Bump- its half of a Jelly Ultra basically- restores 25 HP and FP. Start back on the camp and its cutscene time. Gotta go back and get Cortez. Rest up and get some items if needed, then go back into the cave and talk to Cortez. Head back onto deck and get ready! ------ +Boss+ ------ Lord Crump Difficulty: *** HP: 30 Attack: 3 Defense: 0 Start by taking out the wall of X-Nauts, thats a nuisance. Power Smash does the trick. Bobbery works here, and so does Vivian. Attack Lord Crump. He jumps on you, and can call in another wall. After he drops below half health, X-Nauts lower down and will drop on someone. Guard with A does the trick though. They, too, have 6HP. Take him, and he goes and refills health and brings back an insane amount of X-Nauts, this time with 10HP. Take them out at all costs first. They cause 5HP of pain to each. And he calls them back almost right after. Pain in the ass. Use whatever means possible to drain his HP, even if it means only attacking him and leaving all the X-Nauts. Beat this time and he is done. --- To peach. +====+ Peach +====+ This time its a bit more dangerous. Go up the elevator and left. Its the last room on the top of the screen, with a green light over it. Invisible potion time, eh? The memos posted around the room are: Place orange between blue and green Place two potions between green and red Place the blue potion next to red Do not place red potion on far right Those easily give it away- the potions go, from left to right, Red Blue Orange Green If you mess it up some funny side affect happens and you can try again. Pick up the four potions and place them in that order in the machine, then TEC tells you how to work it. You must fill up the beaker- it will not go in a normal path- thats OK. Then it has to cook for 30 seconds- use a clock to simply figure out roughly 30 seconds. The result should be a green concoction. Drink it and poof! Your invisible. Now she has to take her dress off. Head on out the door and to the far right to Grodus' room. From this room, its at the far right. Go inside and hit A by the bookshelves to locate the disc. Then hit A by the computer to insert it. An 8-Bit Mario and Luigi from the ol Super Mario Bros run by on the computer, haha. Put the disc back and then head out and back to the potion room. Drink the green potion, and your back to normal! To Bowser. +=====+ Bowser +=====+ Talk to Lord Crump and watch the cutscene. Thats it. To Mario. +====+ Mario +====+ With Bobbery and the boat curse, we can clean up Rogueport. Start by taking the boat panel near the stairs into Town Square, and head down and left, then up beyond the wall and get on land. HP Drain is in a chest. Theres a Star Piece in the bottom right corner behind a barrel. Then go back and go into the West Side. Blow up the wall next to the shop and nab the Shine Sprite. You can easily see a Star Piece hiding behind that can. Get it. Drop down into the sewers and go right this time. Jump to keep the platforms level so you can cross. Go into the next room then. Head down into the water. Soft Stomp is a chest. Then the platform in the top area takes you to two places- Herb T's place on the left and the third store of Rogueport on the right, which shells helpful items, but at a cost. Blow up the pillar blocking the path to go right, and behind the column is a Star Piece. The person right there is Dazzle- this is why we've been collecting Star Pieces. She sells you stuff for them. 100 total. For a Shine Sprite, travel all the way to the other side of the sewers to the room with the pipe to Petal Meadows, and boat out to an island. Don't bother trying to get to the green pipe- you can't at this point. Now if you want to get Ms. Mowz to join your team, go to the Trouble Center. Do the anonymous request one. with the description as "Elusive Badge." Go up in the Inn and out the door, and into the corner past the badge shop. Talk to Ms. Mowz. Head back up and talk to Merlon. Now head to Hooktail's Castle. Once there, dont go up to the airplane panel. Jump down some ledges and cross the water to get HP Plus. Head to the room now where you got cursed. Remember how? Head straight. In a badge box is Power Bounce (hmm I don't recall ever seeing this before). In the room with the stone blocks, hold Koops shell to activate the yellow block, take it up, and a Star Piece is there. Literally keep going and you will come there. Paper thin through the cell and into the next room, and through the door into the spike room. Bomb the right wall, hit the switch inside and get the Up Arrow. Intriguing. Now head up to the area where you fought Hooktail, but right before the door heading outside is a ... Shine Sprite? I don't remember ever seeing this one, I must be going blind. Then go to his lair for the badge. Use Flurrie in the middle of the room to blow away the cover. Go back to Rogueport. Talk to Merlon, handing him the Up Arrow. Now your partners can be upgraded to Ultra Rank! Then head to where Ms Mowz was. Tah-dah! We have all partners now. Hug the wall and walk up for a Star Piece. NOW we can get down to business. There was a lot to do, and there will be just as much after this next chapter. Anyway, head to the TYDR. Frankly tells you what a simple ride this is oing to be. Anyway, go back to Don Pianta. Gotta go to Keelhaul Key. Talk to Cortez, he takes you there. Head into the jungle. She mentioned the skull rock. Yep thats right! Gotta go through here once again. Its in the open right before the tree. Grab it and then go back and give it to them. Head back to Rogueport then to Don Pianta's office. Now we can get a move on! Beldam awaits you outside, but she is smart enough to not battle you. Then, head on up to the train and hop on. Chapter 6: 3 Days of Excess Day 1 This is a really fun chapter, on the train part that is. There is a Shine Sprite in your room right in front of the bunk bed, so get it. Head on out. All the way in room 8 (two cars over) is a Star Piece in the drawer. Then talk to the conductor at the rear, notifying him of the threat you found. Head into the lounge car and see whats up. Talk to Pennington, the detective penguin. Examine the trail of whatever, and follow it into the next car. It leads into room 3. Talk to the toad there. Look in the drawer. Cutscene! Go to the chef and give him the pot, and get a Star Piece. Go to room 6 and talk to Pennington. Like he suggests, go to Room 8 and talk to Goldbob. You can get Bub an autograph. Talk to the conductor at the back to find out he wants to be a train engineers. Hmm. Go to Room 2 and help her search for a gold ring. The waitress is also looking for Shell Earings. Go up front to the train engineer and get his autograph. Take it back and get a Shine Sprite! Talk to the conductor. Stow away, eh? The toad from room 3 reports noises coming from room 4. Check it out. Walk in and use veil. A toad appears. Talk to him. Now we have to go get a dairy from the luggage car. The conductor lets you in. Between two of the crates is an opening for you to slip through. Get the diary and go back to room 4. Don't read the diary. Get the blanket back to the conductor now. Head on into your room and turn in for the night. Day 2 Go to room 6 to see whats going on. Oh boy, this is a bit more serious than our previous case. Theres really only one person who could have done this, and its quite obvious. Head to room 1. Vital Paper, eh? Go to Pennington- we have to now find Zip Toad. Go to your room, examine the paper, and use Vivian to veil. "Zip Toad" comes out. He jumps around. Figure out his path and jump at him to cause a cutscene. Then, Doopliss escapes. Before heading out, return the Shell Earings and Gold Ring. You get a Star Piece and 30 coins, respectfully. Then head on out to the Riverside Station. Talk to the toad by the bridge. Then go into the station itself. Go through the door on the right and roll under the first gate thing, and hit the switch. Go up those stairs then and into the next room. Go up the stairs- it takes a bit of timing to pass these. Once you figure out how they rotate, time it so you go after the first and third ones turn at the same time, and right after that the second and third ones spin. You should have just enough time to jump from the first to the second, hesitate a second, jump to the third, to the fourth, and over. Then roll under the thing, jump onto the yellow gear, up to your right onto the lowest level of the rotating thing, then jump up, and over and use Koops to grab the key. Go back to the previous room and out the locked door. Once you go down the steps, there is a Shine Sprite in plain view. Keep going and at the bottom of the next stairs are... papers. Use Flurrie to blow 3 sets of them off revealing a door. Roll into a tube and go through the slot. Go right, and right before your about to drop off, jump to the landing and drop down the center. If you miss it, just roll and jump your way back up. Then, cross the gap for P-Up, D-Down badge. Blah. Then go back down into the gap, and roll left and you will end up in a dumpster. Go through the door, and then the door in the next room. Goombas? Really? Beat all three sets, and switches appear. Hit them the number of times the number on them is- the middle one 10, right one once, and left one thrice. Take those stairs. Use Koops to get that Shine Sprite. In the next room, open the chest for the Ultra Boots! Stand on the trail of filth and then spring jump and head right and then drop down the vent. Jump onto the crate in the corner, fly across on Yoshi, Spring jump up to the pipe, over the fence, down into the cell, spring jump under the shelf, grab the key, spring jump back up to the pipe, go over, and out the door. Phew! Anyway, jump down off the ledge, and head on over to a spring board and head up and back out the way you came. Go all the way to the very first room you were in. In the corner is a badge- sping jump under it, Close Call P. Take the elevator down. Hammer those dudes away and away. Use the super hammer move to get rid of tons of em at once. Eventually they retreat leaving the switch. Flip it, then go hammer the switch. Problem solved! Go back to the train. Day 3 To the engine room. Talk to the engineer. Oh boy. Stock up on items from the store and then head to the luggage car. Just keep hammering and they retreat. Hug the back wall and sping jump and go outside. Walk for a long while on the top and hammer away and eventually the smoorg will assemble. This is a really annoying battle. ------ +Boss+ ------ Smorg Difficulty: *** HP: 50 Attack: 5 Defense: 1 Get rid of the arms at all cost- they have 4HP. Items, Earth Tremor, anything. You can't afford very many attacks from them. Once gone, the smorg can't attack. Two turns for attacking- Spring jump can land an insane 12 damage if executed correctly. I used Goombella since she can jump and can deal 6 attack in one go. Watch out for when it turns into one claw- deals 10 damage to each. I used Earth Tremor twice and a Thunder Rage to rid of the tentacles. Spring Jump and Head Bonk did the rest. If you can get past the arms, it really is not very hard. Its the attack is so strong. --- You have arrived at Poshley Heights! Rest once more if needed then head on out. Along the house to your immedeate left is a Star Piece behind the chair. In the next area, on the right is a purple house. Head up on the other side of the hedges for a Star Piece. In the next area is our destination. First, a Shine Sprite lingers in the bottom corner, spring jump it. Read the letter on the door. Shocker, Pennington is the manager. Go inside. Go towards the giant picture. On the left is a miscolored tile. Spring jump there. Head right, drop down, and go up to the top ledge. Airplane across. Then get back to the top ledge and hit the switch, and go down the pipe, and inside the painting. Watch out for Dark Boos, they are a nuissance. For a Shine Sprite and L Emblem, take the pipes back up to the airplane panel and cross. On the bottom second ledge is a Shine Sprite. On the third ledge at the opposite end is the L Emblem. Then go up to the Crystal Star and grab it. Simple! Leave the painting and you talk to Pennington. Leave the Sanctum. To Peach! +====+ Peach +====+ Time to go to TEC. You will find out what the plan is soon enough. To Bowser. +=====+ Bowser +=====+ "Your Massiveness!" Simple head straight through and they finally get a Crystal Star! In comes Rawk Hawk, who gets RAWKED. This was really simple also. To Mario. +====+ Mario +====+ Just like last time, there is a nice amount of stuff we can do before TYDR. First, the most important is go into the town square. Spring jump under the platform that has the huge chest on it. Ultra Hammer time! Go into the sewers then, and head over to the room with the pipe to Petal Meadows. See the pole there? Spring jump on the left side, and bomb the wall. On the other side is Defend Plus P. Head over a room to the left into the main square (with the shop). From the platform that raises, go straight and Spring Jump near the pole. Up on the building, jump down to the right, and then over onto the pedastool and Spring Jump for a Shine Sprite. Keep heading left. In this room, go down the down pipe. The two item boxes contain a Slow Shroom and Gradual Syrup. Blow away the cover and to reveal a pipe- it takes you to the Pit of 100 Trails Room. In the small cell its in, go left. Take the boat panel and head right to the very end- WOAH! Get on land and start hammering away! At this point they can't damage you so don't worry about loosing HP. Tag and bag all three Shine Sprites- Spring Jump for third. Then jump up to the Spunia. Take this with caution- 7 attack power. Bobbery works good here, since his attack is the same as yours. After, time it so you can fly with Yoshi to the platform and over to the other side to get Defend Plus. Then, Spring Jump to the other side of the pole and drop off at the part where it bends upwards. Go into the house via the pipe and a Star Piece awaits. Travel back and from this room head right. Break the stone block and in the chest is FP Plus. Right pipe- Keelhual Key jungle. Left pipe- Poshley Heights. Go back behind the building up above ground (where you went to see Ishnal). First, fly over and nab the Shine Sprite. Then boat out to the front and dock. Inside the chest is Douple Dip. Head to the TYDR now. The moon? What a coincidence. Frankly needs some time, so kill off 5 minutes going around doing stuff, like checking out the badge shop, talking to Charlieton, etc etc. After a while go back. Fahr Outpost here we come! If you haven't already, spring jump under the chest in town square for the Ultra Hammer. Head to the west side and drop into the sewers. Drop down and on the ground is a red x. Spring jump and take the pipe to the other side with a chest. Flower Saver P. That blue pipe is our location. Exit the sewers, come back down, and fly over with Yoshi. Hammer the stone block and go down the pipe. Chapter 7: Mario Shoots The Moon Simply head right. Theres a Star Piece hidden on the bottom of the screen to the left of a tree. Keep going and in this area is a Badge Box- HP Plus P. Hug the bottom of the screen and you will get a Star Piece as you head toward the city. In the bottom left corner is a Star Piece. In the next area on the far right is a Shine Sprite. Head inside the closest building and behind a crate is another Star Piece. Then, go talk to the green bom-bomb. After he denies it, pull out Bobbery and talk to him again. Let the wild goose chase begin!! Goldbob, where did we last see him? Poshley Heights. Head there, preferrably via the pipe from the sewers. He is near the train. Give him ALL your money. Keep saying yes until he takes it. You get the Goldbob Guide, and all your coins back. Well that was simple! Remember General White lived somewhere in Petalburg. Travel there. Talk to the mayor. Creaky Key, heh. Go there and talk to Pa-Patch to find out he is going to an arena. Head to Glitzville! Do what you wish, then go into the Juice Shop and talk to the bartender person. He tells you about General White going to a tree. To The Great Tree! The fastest way is through the pipe in the sewers that goes to right outside the place. Talk to the Puni right at the door to find out he went somewhere "dark." To Twilight Town! Once there talk to the villager near the Inn. Tired, eh? Travel back to Fahr Outpost. Store up on items and what not, and then go into the far room in the place. You have to try waking him up a good ten times first. Go back outside and talk to the mayor. Go to the first area and talk to him again. There is a save block in this area to your right. Head right. Eventually you get to an area with a building in the background. Explode the rock in the left side to reveal a pipe. A Star Piece is lurking, surrounded by enemies of course, behind a rock. Then go through the pipe and over into the building. Two Elite X-Nauts confront you. Save and head through the next room. Another Elite. Head into the next room. The path you take is lit briefly: go up near the wall, out 4 blocks, down to the bottom, and over to the wall and up. Nab the item box and get the elevator key out of the chest. The floor deactivates. Go back a room and use the elevator. Sublevel 2 is where we want to go. Go left, beat the X-Naut PhD and go in the far room. The path is on the wall, and you can faintly see it the way the tiles light up. Grab the card key, a Sleepy Sheep is in the box, and leave. Go inside the room after the de-activated elevator. Keep in mind both of the notes. Then go inside the far right room, beat/avoid the X-Yux, and go into Grodus' room and grab the Card Key. Now head back to the elevator and go up a sublevel. If you didn't catch it, its 014029. Head right past an Elite and enter the pass code you got before and go on through. Quiz show time again!! Question: Whats hidden here? Answer: Elevator Key Question: Whose the girl waiting for Koops? Answer: Koopie Koo Question: How many feet do those have? Answer: 6 Question: Where was the one, the only, Diamond Star? Answer: Hooktail's Belly Question: What was the name of the very first champion of the Glitzville Arena? Answer: Prince Mush Take the elevator key. Go back down to sublevel 2 and go over an elevator. The door to the left of this, go inside. Theres an X-Naut PhD. In the corner, spring jump into the duct. In the far left corner is a Star Piece. From where you came up, go through the at the first chance to the left of it, and grab the Cog with Koops. Go back to Sublevel 1 and head to the room on the far left. Insert the Cog, then hit the buttons: Left Right Middle. Then you have to use the crane- hold A to line up with the item, then B to go back to it. Use this method to grab a Star Piece, Feeling Fine, and Feeling Fine P. Head down to sublevel 3 now via the other elevator from Sublevel 2. Head left and in this room, a series of three tiles are safe. They move in an order to the opposite side of the room. Take them, being careful, and grab the third card key. HP Drain is in the item box. Head right and into the room at the other end. Enter the cards in the order you have them: Red, Yellow, Green. Beat the PhD. Throw Bobbery at the blue switch. Paper thing through the bars. Veil with Vivian, and ride the platform up and across and down the pipe. In background, use the platforms, one of which goes to an Ultra Shroom). Otherwise use the one that goes up (in the backdrop, this is), and jump right onto the moving gear. Work your way right until you finally make it to the far green pipe. Take it and go to the airplane panel. Keep flying to the final card key. Now repeat that and before going off the airplane panel, jump down when the moving platform below you is close. You can tell when the chains holding it up are near you. Hit the switch and stairs are revealed! If needed, use the health box and save block below. Otherwise those moving platforms you were just on lead to the stairs. Ignore that pipe and use the card key at the top. I smell a boss battle. ------ +Boss+ ------ Magnus Von Grapple 2.0 Difficulty: *** HP: 70 Attack: 6 Defense: 2 He actually can be hard. At all costs, take out the firsts first chance you get- you cannot live without it. His attacks are simple- drill, fists, and a thing that knocks both of you. Be careful and guard well. Use the hammer, since it will do more damage. The best partner to use is probably Vivian or Goombella. Vivian can't attack the fists. Goombella can, but she goes only 2 attack on Crump. Shooting Stars, Thunder Rages, Earth Tremor, Art Attack, and any other item that does at least 5 attack on all enemies works great here with the fists. As his HP gets lower, he swallows up some of the crowd and shoots them at you- this does an insane amount of damage. Its almost impossible to guard/supergaurd any of them. You may need to heal, that Ultra Shroom we found just before will do the ticket. Keep hammering him into oblivion and nab the Crystal Star. --- +=====+ Bowser +=====+ "Your Putridness," gotta love Kammy Koopa. Walk over to the sanctum and enjoy the cutscene. +====+ Mario +====+ Head down to sublevel 4 and go into TECs room on the far right. Can't save him. Go to sublevel 2. Head left and its the second door. Press the button and enter the teleporter. Head outside... Frankly? Heh. Go to the TYDR. Walk on in! Chapter 8: The Thousand Year Door This is a giant maze full of tricks and puzzles. Head through this room. The stairs split into three- the top and bottom lead no where. But at the top is a Stop Watch. Then go straight. Be wary of the Swoopula's- but they aren't too big of a problem. Continue on. In the item box at the start of the next room is a Shooting Star- these are real handy in the boss battle here. Dry Bones! They aren't too hard, but they will come back to life. However Bobbery or Vivian can put them to permenant rest. Drop down the stairs, and oh boy, more Dry Bones. Head down the next flight, and yay! Bombshell Bills! Make your way to the B. Bill Blasters- gold, nice. 10 HP and they shoot two B. Bills at you. Ms. Mowz works good here since she penetrates defense. Work away and try to take out the Bills too, unless you are really good at superguarding. Anyway, go through the door. This next room is tricky. Spikes pop up, but only once close. In a badge box, be careful of getting, is All or Nothing. This badge is great- but only if you really can nail those action commands. All the Swoopula's here are single enemy only battles, to make it easy on you. Walk, don't run through this. If you hit a spike, its back to the beginning. Good, a save block! Continue on. You have to jump over the fire, unless you really want to veil. Meet Phantom Ember- try to get a hammer first strike. 10HP means its going to take both partners to do one in. In the middle of this area is a small island with a hidden Item Box in the middle containing a Boo's Sheet. Press forward! Pull out Vivian for this next part. The order goes- 2 on the ground, 1 in the air. That one in the air you must use veil to get by, unless your really fast with tube mode. Upon approaching you know this is not going to be easy. Talk to the bones. Hammer away until you get into contact with the blue one. 20HP. I didn't take chances. Supernova rids of all the Dry Bones, and Bobbery's Bob-ombast took care of the rest. Yea I know thats a hefty amount of FP and Star Power, but its better than loosing tons of HP. What also works is just pounding away with Bobbery and Peicing Blow. Once beaten, they scram leaving behind the key. Press on. In the item box is an Ultra Shroom- always helpful. More B. Bill Blasters. Take the stairs down- Phantom Embers! Take the next stair case down- B. Bill Blasters! We don't ever win! In the next room, a coin box, an item box- Jammin' Jelly, and a Badge Box- PUp, D-Down P. The next room is a bit tricky. Its a series of rooms- no enemies. If you take the wrong door, you start back at the beginning. Whichever torch is lit means thats the right door. Here's the order: Down Down Up Up Down Up Down Ugh, this next part is so annoying. See the Chain Chomp Bust? Throw Bobbery up into the mouth. Hit the switch in the background. Go do the same to the other side. To get by the incredibly annoying Chain Chomps, stand at one end (top or bottom) to have them attack you. Once they do, run around them. Don't stand close enough for them to hit, though! One gaurds a Save Block, another a Heart Block for a simple 10 coins. Anyway, blow up the other bust and hit the second switch. Now continue into the next area. This is where it gets insanely tough. In this first hall is a Dark Wizzerd. If you've been far enough in the Pit you know they are a bother. Easily slip by him and continue. In this hall its a Chain Chomp. Out manuever him and keep going. Third hall is empty. Two Phantom Embers. SAVE! Well even if you skip it you saved just before coming in here. Theres a reason I said skip through all the fights. Go into the next room. This is the first of I believe 5 Mini-but-good-enough-to-be-regular-bosses-Boss battles. ------ +Boss+ ------ Gloomtail Difficulty: **** HP: 80 Attack: 8 Defense: 2 Yea, they had to stick this bad boy in here. Without a doubt one of the hardest fights in the game. Hardest you've seen so far, unless conquered the Pit. His attacks are biting you, stomping on you, or breathing poison on you- good! Once in a while, he uses Megabreath, this attack will drain your HP so fast if used repeatedly. Peircing Blow comes in great here. Avoid jumping and Goombella, minus the Tattle, altogether. Can't afford to deal only 2 damage when you could be handing out 4 a partner. As much as it will hurt you, try to avoid using Bobbery. Vivian is the best partner due to veil move, because Gloomtail can charge. Ms. Mowz can also be a good canidate due to her Watt capabilities of bypassing defense: with no charge! (I had to put that pun in there, sorry). Don't forget your Star Power, too! Earth Tremor hands out 6 on a full go, Art Attack can do upwards of 15 is done right, and the always powerful SUpernova at 15 full. Its hard if you don't know what your doing. Use your attacks wisely, HP items only when needed, and Star Power appropriately. He will go down. --- Open the chest for a Star Key. Head right. Through Bobbery at the wall halfway between on the portion of the wall that has barely any angle to it. Inside are an Ultra Shroom and Jammin' Jelly, the best items. How convienentlt placed. Anyway leave this area and go back out into the garden area. Now take the boat panel. If you didn't already do this, use Bobbery on the Chain Chomp Busts on either side and hit the two switches. Go up the spiral stars and place the Star Key in the designated area. You must get the 8 keys. There isn't technically an order. First floor rooms are 1st and second floor rooms are 2nd. Keys 1 and 2 Start by going into the 2nd top left room. The blocks from the first Paper Mario! Anyway, destroy the one you can. In the 1st top left room, destroy the two stone blocks. Backtrack to the 2nd top left and destroy the last stone block and grab the Key. Then go grab the Key from the 1st top left. Key 3 1st top right, simply walk through the wall and hit the switch. Key 4 1st bottom right room, use Flurrie on the center of the room. Key 5 1st bottom left room, hit the right switch twice and left switch thrice. Key 6 2nd bottom left, beat the enemies in this order- Dull, Red, Dry, Dark. Key 7 2nd bottom right, veil so that a switch appears towards the right side Key 8 2nd top right, blow up the far wall with Bobbery Place the 8 keys then on the third floor into their pedastools. Head back outside, and back toward the Gloomtail building, to only be confronted by the Shadow Sirens. ------ +Boss+ ------ Shadow Sirens Difficulty: *** Beldam HP: 30 Attack: 5 Defense: 0 Marilyn HP: 40 Attack: 7 Defense: 0 Doopliss HP: 40 Attack: 7 Defense: 0 Three, 19 attack power combined, but no defenses. Use Vivian. Even though she has a lower attack power, take out Beldam first. Her status changing attacks add up and do bad for you. Spring Jump does miracles for this battle- 12 damage in one go if executed correctly. If Marilyn charges, use veil. If not, its devestating. Focus completely on Beldam first, aside the changing attacks, she can use an ice attack that can freeze you- most likely resulting in your death if frozed. After, focus only on Marilyn. She isn't TOO hard, except for when charging you have to sacrifice a turn for veil- its worth it though. Finally, take out Doopliss who either does his normal attack or simply changes into you or your partner and mimicks their attack. I managed to do this half the way with Vivian dead and didn't change her out until something dropped on me, confusing Mario, and he switched out to Flurrie. Star Power wasn't used either, but it could help make life easier- Supernova for this case. --- Head right and down. In that item box is a Thunder Rage. Continue right past some enemies and at the end is a seemingly dead end. Use Flurrie to rid of a cover and go up the hidden stairs and yoshi across and into the next room. On the left is a timed switch. Use Koops and hold him, run up the right stairs and let go. Cross. Head down the stairs and a Repel Cape is in the box. Go through the door. Go up the left stairs and through the door. Hit the green switch, and go back and now you can cross on the right via Yoshi. The next gap? Drop down and hit the purple switch and ride back up. Then hold Koops by the red block so it will come up, then drop down onto it and let Koops go. As your coming up, drop off on the right and Yoshi across the gap. Head into the next room and use the overhead pipes to pass, and finally drop where the pipe goes down. Through the door. Head all the way left pass some enemies and in the chest is a Shooting Star. Then, back where you entered this room, go up those stairs. When you reach the gap, through Bobbery down to activate the switch and cross, mindful of a Chain Chomp. Once up top, save, and head over. Seemingly dead end, again. Yoshi across to the center point and fall to the bottom platform- theres a key. Nab it and drop down. Take note of the stars that are lit- 1, 3, 4, and 6. In the item box is a Life Shroom. Are all these items you telling you something? Anyway, go up the stairs. You have to roll in order to get up the next part. If you didn't take note, starting from the left, the first, third, fourth, and sixth switches. Go back a room- now those platforms from before are moving. Take it across. In the next room use Flurrie on the covered giant stone block, and destroy it revealing a Spin Jump platform. Break it. Down below is a coin box. Head out. Carefully follow the path that zig-zags and even drops down. Go through the next door. Airplane out to the raised area and go inside. Take the down stairs and beat the Chain Chomp. Then, hit the red switch, jump on Yoshi, and run to the platform that jutted out. Grab the Palace Key. Head back outside. Yoshi as long as you can to the right, drop, and land on a Life Shroom. Yoshi right once more and land on a Shooting Star. Then drop back down into the bottom of the room. Fight your way back to a spring board and airplane to the far end of the room, and go through the door. This is it. The final fights are coming up after this room. My advice is to leave the place. Fight back to Rogueport. Why? Level up. You will be made mincemeat out of the final fight unless you are well prepared. A long journey into this place, you probably used many of your items. For the FINAL battle you need Shooting Stars, Thunder Rages, Ultra Shrooms, Jelly Ultras, Jammin' Jellys, and possibly Life Shrooms. We'ved picked up some of those. Plus you need to level up even more, unless you already did. Either way, try to level up to around 30ish. When your good and ready, get to around 85ish Star Points- there are two battles coming up back-to-back and you can't heal between them. Then go through that door. ------ +Boss+ ------ Grodus Difficulty: *** HP: 50 Attack: 7 Defense: 1 For every Grodus X thats out, his defense goes up by 1. Once four are out, he's invincible. Plus they can attack you. Bobbery is a good canidate since he has the same attack power as you. Multibounce with Mario everyturn and let Bobbery lay waste. Supernova can work here, doing tons of damage. Once you get down low, revert to Piercing Blow and Bob-ombast. He will fall. --- ------ +Boss+ ------ Bowser/Kammy Koopa Difficulty: *** Bowser HP: 70 Attack: 7 Defense: 2 Kammy HP: 50 Attack: 5 Defense: 0 "Your Chunkiness!" She gets me every time. Take out Kammy Koopa. She will raise her and Bowser's health, she must go first. No defense means regular attacks work great. Spring Jump takes out 12. She can also up defense which gets really annoying along with other related attacks. Once she's out of the picture, Bobbery is your best bet against Bowser. Piercing Blow does good. Regular hammer does 4 damage still though, so you may be better of with that FP wise. Literally keep attacking and trying to supergaurd the attacks, which mainly are Bowser chomping you, which will poison, or jumping, or breathing fire. --- Not TOO hard, but it gets even harder. We've mastered 4 out of the 5 battles here, but this last one out does them all. Once again, if you need to leave to get more items and level up, don't be scared too. Now that all paths are open its easy to make it back, you just have to sneak past some enemies. Go into the last room. In the first chest is an Ultra Shroom, the second one a Jammin' Jelly. Make sure you recovered and save at the block. Make sure you have the proper badges equipped- Spike Shield is useless. If you have enough Badge Points, use some Defense Plus badges. Happy Heart and Happy Heart P work great- especially if you have two of each equipped. Keep Piercing Blow and Power Smash. Power Jump can come in handy also. Badges like Refund and those are judge wasting BP here. Quick Change also works wonders. Go through that door. There are quite a few of cutscenes, some are long. ------------ +Final Boss+ ------------ Shadow Queen Difficulty: ***** HP: 150 Attack: 7 Defense: 0 -Stage 1- She is in her Dark Peach form. Attack away with normal attacks. She has lightning attacks, defense/attack attacks, and can steal HP. She even will try to drag you into the darkness. This stage isn't TOO hard. Partners with 6 attack work here (Goombella, Vivian, Bobbery). I use Goombella (tattling purpose). Watch out when her true form appears and hands sorround you- this can do a lot of HP. Drop her down to around 90ish, and a cutscene starts. -Stage 2- She is in true form here. Regular attack- don't waste anything. She is invincible right now. Hang on for three turns. She refills all of her HP. Then a cutscene triggers. -Stage 3- This is the true fight. She is in true form, as are we. Try to take out her hands if you can, at least one. If the Dead Hands are in, they have 8HP so use Spin Jump or an attack strong enough to take them out with one partner. Make sure at this point you use Vivian for veil. It really is not far how her hands can attack, but don't give up. Use items VERY wisely. This is a long grueling fight, and you will need them later on. Pray that you get the Shine Sprites and then nail them, they refill you completely. Spin Jump the Dead Hands, so Vivian can attack the Shadow Queen. If theres two hands, either have each partner attack one, use an item, Fiery Jinx, or Earth Tremor. I don't recommend Supernova, unless its a golden oppertunity to use. You seriously slowly beat her HP down to nothing. You cannot beat her fast- maybe dealing 4-7 damage to her directly each turn on average. She has one defense, so don't use Piercing Blow unless she raises her defense. Heal when necessary, if Mario drops under 20HP. Especially if he's under 14- both hands along can kill him if not gaurded against. My best advice is keep attacking, supegaurd, and don't waste items. The fight will take you forever, so don't think your doing anything wrong. Every now and then use a Spring Jump on her, that can do an easy 10 damage to her. NEVER get caught without veiling when she is charged. Eventually, you will kill her. If you can't, I suggest leaving and going to level up. --- She will eventually be beat, and you can watch a great cutscene after. Congrats! Now you can go finish everything else- recipes, the Pit, badges, etc etc. ================================================================================ ~~~~~~~~ +Bosses+ ~~~~~~~~ -Prologue Boss- Blooper Difficulty: HP: 15 Attack: 1 Defense: 0 Take out both tentacles and you can then attack Blooper himself. It takes a couple of turns but he is nothing you can't handle. -Chapter 1 Boss- Hooktail Difficulty: * HP: 20 Attack: 5 Defense: 1 His size is intimidating, but he is a piece of cake. -Mini Boss- Shadow Sirens Difficulty: * Badges: Non required You are facing three opponents: Vivian, Marilyn, and Beldam. Take out Marilyn first. Goombella can cause four damage at once if you upgraded her. Then aim for Beldam. Finally take out Vivian. Pretty easy fight if you ask me. -Chapter 2 Boss- Magnus Von Grapple Difficulty: ** Badges: none required HP: 30 Attack: 2 Defense: 1 Intimidating looking also, most bosses are like that. Peach time! -Title Match- Opponent: Rawk Hawk Challange: Great Gonzales Fight Money: 20 Description: Without a doubt the greatest music in the game. -Chapter 3 Boss- Macho Grubba Difficulty: *** HP: 60 Attack: 4 Defense: 0 The only hard thing is the HP, really. -Optional Boss- Atomic Boo Difficulty: * HP: 40 Attack: 4 Defense: 0 This is a very simplistic battle. My suggestion is coming back later in the game when you have stronger moves and partners. Whail on him, probably using Goombella or Yoshi to help. He really is not very hard. Beat him and Lucky Start is your treasure. -Chapter 4 Boss, stage 1- ?????? Difficulty: * HP: 40 Attack: 4 Defense: 0 Easily hammer away and use your partner's attacks too. After a while he turns into a purple Mario. He is insanely easy to beat. Keep whaling on him and he will fall. -Chapter 4 Boss, part 2- Doopliss, Mario form Difficulty: * HP: 40 Attack: 2-4 Defense- 0 This is really simple. -Chapter 5 Boss- Cortez Difficulty: ** HP: 20 Attack: 4 Defense: 1 Stats wise, he's a breeze. -Mini Boss- Lord Crump Difficulty: *** HP: 30 Attack: 3 Defense: 0 Start by taking out the wall of X-Nauts, thats a nuisance. -Chapter 6 Boss- Smorg Difficulty: *** HP: 50 Attack: 5 Defense: 1 Get rid of the arms at all cost- they have 4HP. -Chapter 7 Boss- Magnus Von Grapple 2.0 Difficulty: *** HP: 70 Attack: 6 Defense: 2 He actually can be hard. -Mini Boss- Gloomtail Difficulty: **** HP: 80 Attack: 8 Defense: 2 Yea, they had to stick this bad boy in here. -Mini Boss- Shadow Sirens Difficulty: *** Beldam HP: 30 Attack: 5 Defense: 0 Marilyn HP: 40 Attack: 7 Defense: 0 Doopliss HP: 40 Attack: 7 Defense: 0 Three, 19 attack power combined, but no defenses. Climb up to the roof and nab the Sprite. Shine #2 -east side- Head to the backside through the houses. You were here when you talked to Ishnail. Fly across the river with Yoshi and theres a Shine. Shine #3 -west side- Iniside of Bobbery's house, in the back room. Can get any point after you talk to Bobbery. Shine #4 -west side- Blow up the wall next to the shop, giving you access to this Shine. Shine #5 -west side- Go into the first house. At the top of the stairs, tube mode and you can go through the wall. You fall into an area with the last Shine here. To get out, tube back through the hole into the second house. ================ Rogueport Sewers Shines: 8 ================ Shine #1 -Thousand Year Door Room- Paper thin through the fence on the right side, and airplane across to the other side. This door goes to the Pit of 100 Trials room. But paper thin through this fence and go up to the ledge. Shine is sitting there. Shine #2 -sewers- Once you get the Super Hammer, go into the room with the giant yellow block. Destroy it, and ride the platform up. Shine #3 -under west side- Drop down into the sewers via the west side. Fly across to the left, and this Shine is waiting. Shine #4 -far room- In order to get this, you must have the boat curse and spring jump. Drop down from the west side, and go through the down pipe. Blow away the area at the bottom of the steps to reveal a pipe. Instead, go through the left wall behind the stairs, and take the boat platform all the way to the right. Take care of all the Spanias to make life easier. Shine #5 -far room- Same trio in the room from #4 Shine #6 -far room- You need to have Spring Jump to reach this one. Shine #7 -Blooper room- In the room where you fought Blooper and the pipe leading to Petalburg. Take the boat all the way over. Shine #8 -under Town Square- Acess this area to the left from the east side entrance. Blow up the pillar with Bobbery and take the platform up. Go straight back and Spring Jump to a pipe and over onto the right building. Jump down, and down again onto a pillar behind Dazzle. =============== Hooktail Castle Shines: 3 =============== Shine #1 -near entrance- Up top in the room where you must move the stairs. Its right in front of the door. ============ Boggly Woods Shines: 1 ============ Shine #1 -airplane area- When traveling, you have to use an airplane panel. This Shine is floating behind it, simply use Koops to bring her home. ============== The Great Tree Shines: 3 ============== Shine #1 -second area- Head through the first door. This room has the bubbles in it. Drop down below and over on the right side lies this Shine. Shine #2 -airplane panel access- In the one room is an airplane panel, but covered with a block type thing. Use Flurrie to rid of it and take the panel to another one, and that one takes you to this Shine. Shine #3 -under Spin Jump area- In the area before the room with the Spin Jump is a board. Spin Jump to break it and travel around, jumping from block to block, to nab this shine. Shine #4 -water filled room- After you drain the water, go back through the down pipe into the room where it drained to. At the top is a lilly pad- jump out to it and grab the last Shine thats here. ========== Glitzville Shines: 2 ========== Shine #1 -outside- On the right before heading inside, opposite Hot Dog Stand. Hammer under it to reveal a box allowing access. Spring jump also works too. Shine #2 -storage room, floor 2- Couldn't be any simpler ============== Twilight Trail Shines: 1 ============== Shine #1 -last area- Right before coming upon Creepy Steeple, there is a Hyper Cleft. Get him out of the way. Where the tree blocks the screen, jump. Its in the centered in the blocked out part, making it one of the two hardest to grab. ============== Creepy Steeple Shines: 3 ============== Shine #1 -inside- right after you walk inside, on the top screen, there is an area you can roll under. While here, grab the Legendary Cookbook for Zess T.'s trouble. Shine #2 -well- In the area you drop down towards the bottom left. How you miss this one... ============ Keelhaul Key Shines: 2 ============ Shine #1 -cliff area- In the second area of the jungle are the cliffs you jump up. Once at the top, look left. Use Koops to reveal a box, which you can Yoshi out too. Shine #2 -bridge area- Right after you cross the bridge, this Shine lies behind the branch of the tree. =============== Pirate's Grotto Shines: 5 =============== Shine #1 -first area- Once inside the actual place, its in the first area. When you jump to the boat to cross, its at the very top. Shine #2 -save block room- The first Save Block room you encounter (again, once inside), at the top of the cliffs. Shine #3 -storage room- In the room you got the key (at the end of the path from the previous Shine), hit the red switch so the platform touches the ground. Then hold Koops' shell and go jump on the platform. Then, when it goes up, jump to the box. Let it go up and jump over. This is one of the two hardest Shines in the game, in my opinion. Shine #4 -wave room- In the room where the waves are, and on the ground path is the spikes you roll under. When you walk in on the immediate left. Koops can get 'em. Shine #5 -left of wave room- Walk over a room from the previous shine (heading left). Spring jump is an option, otherwise hammer the block under it to open access. ============== Excess Express Shines: 2 ============== Shine #1 -Room 5- In Mario's room, right in front of bed. Can be a bit tricky to see at first, but she's there. Shine #2 -Room 8- On day 2 talk to Bub while his parents are arguing. He wants something that starts with an 'a.' Autograph. Not of "Zip Toad" either. Go to the engine room and get the train engineer's autograph. Give it back to Bub for a Shine Sprite. ================= Riverside Station Shines: 2 ================= Shine #1 -outside- Near the bottom of the stairs. Can't get simpler. Shine #2 -Goomba room- In the room where you must defeat the three goombas to reveal the switches that reveal the stairs. There, of course, are plenty of other ways to access it from various pipes and what not. In it's depths are home to 47 different types of enemies, most of which are only found there. There are ten overall different parts of this. Each is 10 floors. Floors 1 through 9 contain specific enemies, coming at you in no set order. The tenth floor contains Charlieton, who sells you healing items. The farther down, however, the prices go up. There is also a badge, most of which are useful. Can you make it through all 100 floors? Every now and then, completely random, there is a Mover. He looks like a Puni. Talking to him will let you go to a couple of locations in the Pit, for a price of course. The main reason for him is probably a rest room of the sorts. The only time you can exit is at every tenth level, there is a pipe leading back to the top. Otherwise you cannot get out. ----- *1-9* ----- Gloomba Spinia Spania Dead Bones Fuzzy ---- *10* ---- Sleepy Stomp Badge ------- *11-19* ------- Pokey Dark Puff Paragloomba Cleft Pider ---- *20* ---- Fire Drive Badge ------- *21-29* ------- Spikey Gloomba Bom-omb Bandit Lakitu Boo ---- *30* ---- Zap Tap Badge ------- *31-39* ------- Dark Koopa Flower Fuzzy Parabuzzy S.
