Question for Zoids: Battle Legends

How do you activate Ex attacks? I have heard it is that you press Z and A at the same time, but that has not worked for me. Can someone please help?

YOU CAN ONLY EX ATTACKS WHEN YOUR HEALTH TURN RED(almost down)

The booklet sayes to wait until your life is on red and the bar above your life is blinking then you press and hold the A button AND the X button at the same time.

When your health gets low ennough, you will see a blinking red EX bar above your health meter.When this happens, hold the A and X buttons to charge your EX attack.Your Zoid will start to glow a purpleish color.Once this happens let the buttons go to unleash you're EX attack.You must wait for the meter to recharge in between EX attacks.
