Question for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

I am stuck on Needle Rock Isle. How do you get rid of the ring of fire surrounding the chest? I am totally stuck. I dropped down the hole and lit the 6 torches, all I got was a chest containing money. According to the sign, if you lite all 6 torches and dive into the sea you can guide the lost spirit of the boat that forever wanders in darkness. I don't get it. If you are supposed to dive into the sea; where?

Use a Hyoi Pear (get them from Beedle) to control a seagull - fly to the very top of the Island and into the Switch!

It's like Sheiny says. You can also kill the Cargarock birds with your boomerang or your bow if they get in your way.

Kill the birds and use a hyoi pear to hit the switch on top of the mountain. And you don't dive into the sea what it's talking about is the ghost ship.

You need to buy a hoi pear and have a seagull hit all of the switches where the birds are flying up above you. Then the fire will go out.
