Question for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

I am a new player and I can not find the shield to get on the pirate ship after your sister gets kidnaped.PLEASE HELP!!!!!

The shield is on the wall on the top floor of your house. Just go up the ladder. Not there? Go back down and ask Granny about it.

After tetra asks you 2 get a shield go to you're house and go up the ladder ther will be a clip then jump down and there will be another clip and you're grandma will give you the shield.
