I may be misunderstanding your question, but one of them is on Dragon roost island and one is on the island with the great deku tree. The 2nd one is in the waterfall and the second is on the mountain where the postmen are. Both of them will be playing some kind of instrument, so if you hear music, you know you are close

If Im thinking what your thinking than the "substitutes" are medli from dragon roost and makar from forest haven. makar goes to wind temple and medli goes to earth.
