Question for Tales of Symphonia

I am stuck where lloyd is captured by the desians and you have to fight those robot things what do I have to do?

First, you must examine the table like object near the entrance of the room. This will change the function of the sorcerer ring, once this happens, you can zap the robot thingies on the panels and open the door to the next room

Go to the glowing ball and tap it, it will change your sorcerer ring's function. Then whenever the robot is on the blue box on the ground zap it. Do it for both and the door will open.
