The way I unlocked Mewtwo is doing all the 700 versus matches but putting the timer to 1:00. Or another thing that you could do is set it to 1 life for all players and then set the timer to 1:00 in the detailed settings menu.

GUYS! He is freaking talking about SSBM, not the wii u and 3ds version, you're all idiots, I mean just look at the date... How is there Smash bros 4 in 2006? Easy. There isn't, you're all just ignorant to the plain facts.

Here is a quicker way for melee put a level 9 cpu ness stock 1 on the dk jungle japes the ness will kill itself so you can just sit back and relax
sheiny answered:

There's only 2 ways to get Mewtwo, do one of the following:
1) Play a total of 20 hours in Melee vs. Mode.
2) Play a total of 700 Melee vs. Matches.

Do u have to do it in 1 day
Guest said: 26th Jun 2015 | REPORT
No. And this is only for the GameCube melee version. NOT for the Wii U and 3DS versions. There is a totally different way to get mewtwo in the wii u/3ds versions.

Nice way but why not make cookies instead
mastergamist99pichu answered:

You can do it two ways 1) 700vs atches 2) with the 20 hours, with more controllers you have to wait less time this is how long :
1)20 hours
2)10 hours
3)6 hours 40 minutes
4)5 hours
It can be your total hours but if you use 4 controllers put the time on unlimited and after 5 hours hit start then hold: L,R,A,start. Than youll get challanged and all I can give you is good luck. Please rank

Guest said: 24th Dec 2014 | REPORT
no u have to kill yourselves because L+R+A+START counts as quitting the game so the hours would not count

I think thats totally stupid. I can't wait 5 hours. I rather battle all night long and I don't even have 4 controllers so that dosen't work.
Guest said: 18th Aug 2011 | REPORT
Dude, you don't leave it paused. You turn the pause off
Guest said: 2nd Jun 2013 | REPORT
did it work for u
Guest said: 23rd Jun 2015 | REPORT
How do you pause it
Guest answered:

Here's what you do do one match PAUSE IT leave on all night and mew two should be ready to fight. P.S. When you fight him WIN.

So it does work if u don't pause?
Guest said: 24th Apr 2015 | REPORT
Yes
Guest answered:

This tip is the easiest to get mewtwo:

first you want to beat classic mode, adventure mode or target test with all the characters you have(do classic it is faster and characters appear faster) then after you do that and get pichu(beat legendary pokemon event) after that do 700 melee matches or play 20 hours of melees
Hoped this helped. I wud use roy to fight mewtwo.

Guest answered:

If you want Mewtwo easily you could leave the game on all night with 2 controllers in and keep it paused until morning. Then beat the person, which after you will be challenged by Mewtwo! Sadly, I'm afraid to try and get Mewtwo because I am afraid my Wii will overheat and not work...

Guest said: 18th Aug 2011 | REPORT
Don't pause it. You turn the pause off. If you paused it you waited all that time for nothing
Guest answered:

I have a wii and melee and my brother dared me to delete my character data and get them all back I got all of them back except for mewtwo and mr.g&w and I only played for 2 days because my brothers been hogging it I beat classic all-star adventure 100 man-melee 15 minute melle 3 minute melee and target test with all characters I have every stage I have evry lottery trophy and I have 2 remotes which mean I have to wait 10 hours but I put it on lightning melee and have to wait only 5 hours is there another way other that that and 700 v.s. Matches

Dude I got all characters except for game n watch in 4 hours flat new game and everything
Guest answered:

The easiest way is to do seven hundred macthes by doing 1 stock melee with one person against ness at any level (even 9) and select the donkey kong stage with the river and a wooden platform with a gorilla inside a house so then select that stage and don't move, ness will just try to come toward you with a double jump but kill himself by falling in the river. This method is also good for unlocking the following stages, the metroid one with the big monster tilting the stage, fourside, big blue, and poke'floats. There is no easier way, even if you do a fight with 1 stock against a computer on easy.

Guest answered:

Do the hours thing. This is how you do it.

Step 1. Plug in 4 controllers. If you don't have 4, borrow some from a friend.

Step 2. Pick 4 characters for each controller. The more people, the less hours you have to wait.

Step 3. Leave the game running. If you used 4 controllers, wait 5 hours.

Step 4. Make three of the characters die. I suggest doing a Stock match on a stage with no obstacles.

Mewtwo is easy to beat and he's a really good character to use.

Guest answered:

You can do 700 versus matches. Or you can do 20 hours of versus mode. More controllers means less time to wait. Here are the times. 1 controller-20 hours,2 controllers-10 hours,3 controllers-7 hours,4 controllers-5 hours.
P.S use your 2 best characters

so first what u want to do is play 5 hours a day (from morning to afternoon) until they say challenger a pro ching OK then just beat mewtwo
Guest answered:

I'm curious if it will work if you leave the game paused. I kno if you don't, the match will end after awhile anyway (idk how long, or if it's just stage hazards) but I'm thinking I'll test tonight if it's paused. If that don't work, I'll just do the 700 on super sudden death rounds.

fucku
Guest said: 5th Jul 2015 | REPORT
fucku play using 4 players so it can be 5 hours of brawling
Guest answered:

Using the Ness method (the fastest method toward getting 700 vs matches) would take approximately 11 hours of non-stop repetition before Mewtwo challenges you. If you have at least two controllers, it is recommended that you leave the game on, unpaused , in the middle of a versus match with another player for 10 hours. Mewtwo will then challenge you.

Guest answered:

Play 700 matches in Special Melee with Super Sudden Death.

Guest answered:

Yeah, I don't think the wait all night while the TV's off scenario works. I tried it and it ended with Player 1 aparantly dying at 99:59(I was at Past Stage Yoshi's Island)

Play like Temple (or Final Destination) with no items.
Guest answered:

You could always put it to stock match with 1 life then put the stages on random use starfox and vs anyone then when the match starts just flash off the stage to die match is over and it usually takes no more then 1-5 seconds to do that repeat until mewtoo Vs you
Ps. Stages on random speeds up the process instead of having to pick the stages to waste time

Guest answered:

Special Melees don't count towards matches or play time, the best way to do it is to be fox and run off the stage on a normal match with 1 stock. I found the best map is fourside, it's the closest map you can choose and you can run off the edge right away Smile

Guest answered:

The fastest way is probably choosing your character, have only 1 cp player on level 1(and only 1),set all the items off except the Home-run bat,put item appearance on very high, then select the stage.(Note:make sure the crates and capsules(not Dr.Mario's)appearing aren't bombs so either throw them up or throw them at your opponent. If you throw the item at them and it's a bat, grab it quickly before them.)

Guest answered:

The best way to get Mewtwo in my opinion is to go to the custom rules, set the time to 1:00, do stock and set 1 life, use two level 9 CPU's (do not use a human in any of the matches), and do the 700 matches.

Do u have to do the 700 matches in one day? I need to know badly
Guest said: 5th Sep 2015 | REPORT
Nope Smile
Guest answered:

Two ways:
Collective playtime ≥ 20 hours. 1 second per second in real life x # of controllers.
1 controller: 20hrs. 2 controllers: 10hrs. 3 controllers: 6hrs 40mins. 4 controllers: 5hrs.
You MUST play melee mode for these to count. DO NOT PAUSE THE GAME AND LEAVE IT OVERNIGHT, AS THE TIME WILL NOT COUNT!

700 vs matches. Melee mode only.
Best way: Set handicap to on, damage ratio to 2.0, stock one, team melee, stage selection to random. One player is human, others are CPUs. 3 CPUs (Any swordsmen for reach) level 9 with handicap 9, and yourself to handicap 1. Put yourself as Jigglypuff, and then just spam start.
At around one match per ten seconds, you should be done in roughly 90 minutes (give or take ten) from ZERO matches.
