If you mean the death star in the port hole then if you hold the Y button you can see at the end theres only a yellow light at the bottom so you shoot your torpedoes at the botom of the wall not any other place.
When the fighters are right behind you, speed up to maximum velocity, then, JAM ON THE BRAKE! They'll pass right in front of you, allowing you to shoot'em down, or you could just dodge their laser-fire until Han comes in and saves your neck, eventually Vader himself will come after you, you can shoot him down, it just takes awile, because unlike regular TIE fighters, Vader's TIE Advanced X1 prototype fighter has a modest shield generator.
