Last Dark gem in Icey Wilderness

Ok in the very far part of the icey wilderness, where the steel ball is and that the button is to push up the cannon to blow up the door and the ball, I cannot get up to the door, where it's up on an platform, how do I get up into the door? It's the last dark gem before I get to go in red's cavern. PLEASE HELP ASAP!

There should be platform that you can get on that rises up and down by a very large enemy. It is the one that you can hover to across the abyss.
