Is it possible to unlock Sonic CD in this game, or do I have to buy Sonic Gems Collection?

The only way to play Sonic CD is to buy and play Sonic GEMS Collection also for the Nintendo Gamecube. Hope this helps you out.
Well if you have the old version you can unlock it but I don't know how I have the new version
