how do i get past gloom and doom down in the tomb part 3

I got the 2 keys for gloom and doom down in the tomb and it opened the gate but when I get up there it says " you need 2 keys to unlock this gate" but I already got the 2 keys so Idk if it's stuck or something! Please Help!

Well, I have an answer for you but it won't be one you like! It seems that if you used cheat codes (to unlock all the power ups) there is a programming bug that will not allow you to open that gate. Also, you cannot disable cheat codes once entered, so the only way to beat the boss is to start a new game. It stinks, I know. I'm in the same situation as you!

Actually this is not true... (years later...) I got bored started playing some old games, I am stuck on the same level. I started playing WITHOUT using cheats. I just wanted to play and figure it out. And yet, I, still have this problem. I knew it was a glitch it just sucks cause I have put in a lot of effort in the game. And now this is something that I cannot control. I have even tried restarting levels, (although from previously saved areas). I think people don't know the real answer, but restarting the entire game without cheats has not worked for me. So it's just an unfortunate glitch. I am frustrated by it too. I wish I could at least find a cheat code to actually OPEN the gate! GL
